Is gepco good enuff, or should I hold out for mogami? Just need a 12 pair snake for running in wall, if I am feeling rich I might do a 16 pair. This is for mic level with XLRs. I was probably gonna buy from fullcompass as they are local to me, but if you have a better source for snake cable I am open to suggestions. I will just be needing 35ft or so, maybe less, maybe more, that is this weekends job...figuring out how and where to run it so I know the length that I want.

For a length of only 35 ft. your options on what you will be able to purchase are going to be limited to what is available in short lengths. That said my studio install cable of choice was always Canare. I like the spec's on Mogami but never liked working with it. I have used Gepco in many installs and at that short a length you are going to find few who can give a good reasoned explanation why you would get better performance out of something else. I have heard much of the arguments about cable but I tend to rely on the spec's and not the hype we're given by creative marketing companies. If the Gepco is what you can get and afford, I would go with it.

You can probably do better than Full Compass on cable prices.

Try Redco, Camel Traders, and Markertek, to start.

If you have the patience, ebay is the place. Searching "snake" or brand names will give you plenty to look at. Like a few hundred. But it can be worth it.

As far as brands, I agree with Folkcafe- it's hard to say one is better. Especially for an install, where flexibility and durability are less of a concern. Belden, Horizon, Proco, and Redco will be cheaper, and do quite well.
