I figure that balanced is a cleaner signal then unbalanced. Why I dont know but I will find out. So the 1010lt has 8 analog inputs 6 are unbalanced rca. 2 are balanced XLR. I have a Dmp3 so im guessing the best signal path is through one of the XLR's. Right? So there are jumpers on the card to change the line level. This is were im lost. The default setteing is +4dBu. With this is for when I wish to direct connect with a mic to my car right? So it would mean that it is a pre? Which if it is Im guessing its no good. Right? So I want to rum my DMp3 into the XLR inputs. Which mean I would have to change the Line level. Which mean I have 2 change the jumpes. There is a -4dBu setting also a -10. Im lost when it comes 2 these and which one I want.

+4, -4 and -10 are all line levels. With +4 being basically the least sensitive which means you can run a hotter signal into it without clipping.
For the DMP3 use +4 and connect the preamps with a TRS jack <-> XLR cable to the 1010LT
