g'day all, recently got rid of my sound blaster and upgraded to a delta 1010.
It seems to be working fine except when I have sonar3 by its self it is fine,
then open fruity loops4, and it works, then go back to sonar it wont play.
if i have fruityloops going then open sonar up a popup comes on the screen which says, the following drivers do not support the audio format or are in use by another program. if i close both programs and reopen sonar it works. why wont it share???

Driver types. Some can be used at the same time on the same soundcard, some can't.

Sonars default is WDM/KS (KS= Kernal streaming).

Presumably, FL is either using MME or DirectSound.

WDM/KS cannot start if MME or Directsound is in use, and vice-versa. I don't know FL much at all, but if it supports midi, ensure it doesn't have the Microsoft GS softsynth selected for midi output as this will also stop Sonar from using WDM/KS. When Sonar opens, it tests the soundcard driver and if it's not free, you get that message.

Sonar has a "Share Drivers" control in its options/audio, while it's stopped, other programs using MME or DirectSound can play.

Changing Sonar to ASIO should sort it, but note ASIO channels cannot be shared either. Both can be using ASIO, but I think they have to be different channels. If FL can use ASIO, that should help in the same fashion letting you leave Sonar on WDM/KS.
