Then there must be a ton of them. :D ;)

And there is!
This stuff is highly priced for people who like to show off.
I know a person who's an artist nobody knows about, she's invested in opening her own gallery and priced every painting below $1000. Well, guess what, she sold nothing until she began raising all the prices to $10000 or $20000.
Same thing goes with vintage over-priced stuff.

What a great demonstration.

wow, i'm surprised that there aren't more of you "tape heads" into the vinyl thing. I always thought they sorta go hand in hand...

RE: the "who listens to/buys vinyl?" question. Its a niche market, but it has a dedicated following, especially in certain music subcultures (punk, some hip hop). and as already mentioned, there is the high end audiophile market, which I find sort of baffling...

I still have 1200+ LPs matched by slightly more CDs. I play vinyl whenever I can. I also archive &/or restore the super rare ones to CDR.
I have a very old but thoroughly reconditioned pioneer t/table hooked up to a nice warm sounding 70's reciever & into my computer for listening while I surf as well as archiving. Also a Kenwwod TT hooked up to a NAD * Bose floorstanding speakers in the living room.
I still have about 300 cassettes recorded in the 70's & early 80's most of which are still in VERY good condition & played when I can to keep 'em from sticking.
When it comes to what I play it's a matter of where and what circumstances.
I bought 2 LPs last week.

OK. I have 2 Fostex E-16 Vintage tape machines. Both in mint condition. Going for $9000 USD each.

A real steal.

I will include a vintage Ampex 1/2" takeup reel for an extra $500.

Thats $9500 each!

Get 'em while they are hot!
