10 Years After RULES

I'm getting a little bit of low end buildup on my monitoring system. The low freqs take a little distance to really develop. Lately, started backing up and checking the mix like 10+ feet away from time to time when mixing to check the lows there. I think you could probably roll off some of the lows on the acoustic guitar. The bass is giving plenty of bottom end and I don't think you'd lose too much of the fullness of the acoustic.

Hey, real drums! :D Snare seems a little thin, and I'm not getting much definition on the kick... but I'll take that over drum machine for this style.

Pretty good recording and mix, what's your basic recording setup?

I may have spoken too soon on the kick... went to the kitchen while this was playing and sure enough, kick sounded decent from farther back. It might just be getting lost a little in a minor low freq pile-up.

pg

that was my first attempt recording acoustic.
I must say I agree with you re: bottom end.
I know what ya mean about walking 10 feet back from the speakers.
I should be getting Edirol ma-10d's in the next couple of weeks.til then i am relegated to headphone mixes.

I record my strat and Marshall Valvestate vs65R
direct to the soundcard (soundblaster audigy 1)
I have a P bass I record the same way.
I use CEP 2.x for multiTracking and ALL my
drums are created in Sonic 2's drum editor and then I try different FREE soundfonts on the creations.
I think it beats drum machines.
I generally use whatever I can figure out the easiest.
I'd rather be producing than climbing endless learning curves you see.

Guess I fooled ya on the drums, or were you fooling with me?

Thanks for the input.

I wish Waldo would let me post cover tunes on Nowhereradio.

kramer
Do you think I shouldn't do that?
I can always delete it.
I see a lot of cover tunes on Nowhere though.

You do whatever you wanna do.LOL.Waldo can get in trouble for people posting cover tunes without consent from the copyright owner. There was a big thread about it a little while back and everybody here pulled their cover tunes off the site to keep from getting waldo in trouble. It's not against the terms of service to post covers IF you have permission from the copyright holder.

You can always e-mail waldo at waldo@nowhereradio.com with any questions.

Yup, the drum sample choices and how they're mixed in there fooled me on the first listen.

Didn't realize it was actully a 10 Years After cover. Yeah, unless you have permission to post it from the copyright holders you should pull it down, sorry.

i'm listening,..lo-fi,...on the speakers that the computer came with,..dont even know what they are,..but I've studied alot of my own music,..pro music,...and alot of stuff from here on 'em. Just letting you know my listening environment.

How it sounded,.....The instruments sounded good,...no complaints there,....the vox were hard to take in spots. Kept wanting to reach for the volume knob and turn it up and down. I'm not sure though if thats because of compression or eq.

Geez,..those drums sounded real to me,...except the cymbals,..but I dont have enough expierience to always be able to tell.

Cool tune,...good playing.

Later,....

10 years after still RULES though

damn, I wanted to hear that.

I haven't heard any 10 years after in a long while.

Gotta respect Waldo so how bout posting on your own ISP server? I've got a couple covers I've been working on and when ready they will go on my own ISP provided home page. I guess I just have to make sure the RIAA or whoever doesn't find my stupid little home page. :)

Alvin Lee and 10 Years After????

Jeez, I saw them at the Fillmore East in like 1972. Didn't know anyone was even still listening to them.

I was never particularly partial to their music, but that man had one fast set of fingers.

And, yeah, we need to find a place where we can post covers.

Real good tune nice mix and playing. Cant Give you any suggestions because ,I have NONE:D :D well Maybe a little something in the drums, don't ask me what!

Peace
Bill
