you only have one week to sing ten songs after which you die- which ten?
(excluding technical difficulty-you can temporarily sing anything)

Not a songwriting postttt. I like this topic to be filled with stuff about songwriting. Sorry im of no help.

Ill add that one song is "I cant help falling in love" made famous by Elvis Presley I forget who wrote it.

"God Is Love" - Marvin Gaye
"One Year of Love" - Freddie Mercury
"Heart of the Sunrise" - Jon Anderson
"Tired of Being Alone" - Al Green
"Flight of Icarus" - Bruce Dickinson
"Woman in Love" - Barbra Streisand
on that theme, all parts of "Too Much Heaven", Gibb brothers
all parts of the vocal quartet "Wem der grosse Wurf gelungen" in the fourth movement of Beethoven's Ninth
all parts of the fugue in the coda of "God Only Knows"

and last, secretly I have always wanted to be one of Debussy's "Sirènes"

. . . . or a member of Ladysmith Black Mombazo on "Homeless". But I want out of the band before the Sesame Street 25th anniversary special!

My going away concert (goes to eleven...):

"Nyne otpushchayeshi (Lord, Now Lettest Thou Thy servant depart )" Rachmaninov (Vespers)

"Old Man River" Kern/Hammerstein
New things come, and old things go
But all things look the same to Joe.
Wars go on and some folks die,
De rest forget
De reason why.

"Walk This Way" Tyler/Perry

"Walk the Line" Cash (only this time, I actually get all the key changes right unlike whenever I try it on Karaoke night.)

"Largo al Factotum" Rossini

"Up and Down" Raposo

"I'm an Asshole" Dennis Leary
I'm just a regular joe
With a regular job
I'm your average white
Suburbanite slob

"I Believe I'll Dust My Broom (I Believe my Time ain't Long)" Johnson

"Morning Dew" Hunter/Garcia --just like the Europe '72 version, please.

any gospel song as recorded by Sam Cooke

and for my encore:

"Cold Sweat Parts 1 and 2" James Brown

And yes, I did come back from the dead to sing a little JB. So there.

And I put the songwriters' names down, so it's cool... :)

people always say "my way" is best but i think "Old man river" is frank sinatra`s best song then "you and me" is second but i cant seem to find it at the moment

I would want them to be VERY LONG songs.:D:D:D I would also sing them VERY SLOWLY.

Yes, what's that song that they built this everlasting organ in some old church in Europe... the song is supposed to take like 300 years to play. People come in to sit and listen and hear like one note play all afternoon.

Since the OP said one week, though, if I figured I'd go for some crowd favorites and some personal favorites. Some that focused on death and many that reaffirmed life. :)

And I would definitely want to sing Ol' Man River like Robeson, not Frank. I did try to put a Sinatra-pwned tune on the list, but my wife started teasing me about my last Karaoke experience.... so Cash went in.

The times they are a changing - Bob Dylan
The weight - The Band
Everyone knows this is nowhere - Neil Young
Mona Lisa and Mad Haters - Elton John
Coyote - Joni Mitchell
Jesus, etc. - Wilco
The River - Bruce Sprinsteen
Old Man - Neil Young
Tears of Gold - Ryan Adams

then, as I slowly start dying
Hurt - the way Johnny Cash interpreted it

and drawing one last giant breath of air, Id belt out

Love reign over me - The Who

(this list might change any given day based on the mood Im in)

as the stage is lowered into my grave with Fireworks going off in the background.

"A Google-plex Bottles of beer on the wall"
(For those who don't know, a "Google plex" is a 1 with a "google" of zeros after it. A "google" is a 1 with 100 zeros after it.)
"I'm Henry the 8th I am"

I'll also write a song but never finish it, so I can claim to never be finished singing the song as well...
:D:D:D
