I don't know what monitors you are using, but corner loading them may be asking for problems with exaggerated bass response.
I have a similar size room that I built by taking a small closet in my game room upstairs and building it out into the attic. I was able to use the pitch of the roof line to impart a declination from the door to the rear wall of about 10". The walls are untreated except for some cypress panels interspersed on each wall. Thus far, it has been the best room I have ever tracked and mixed in....nice and tight, no nodes anywhere near the sweet spot....zero treatment. If I heard or noticed any artifacts, I'd address them, but I wouldn't do a thing until I actually listened to the room first.

They're bookshelf speakers, flat down to 72 Hz, with a 6 dB rolloff around 58 Hz. I don't like them too close to the walls either, but on the other hand they can sound a little thin if I place them too far from the walls. I get the best bass response by stacking two identical pairs. I rather doubt I'll be doing that for monitoring though. I'm planning to fix my other amp so I can use one pair in the bedroom.
