As mentioned in the Behri thread, did some experiments a while ago modifying a cheap Panasonic WM-61 capsule. Up against it is a DPA4006, so both are omni and electret.
To be honest, I liked the Panasonic better. It had more detail and some "sparkle" the DPA lacked, at least on this instrument. The DPA seemed a little dull by comparison.

It's the capsule + a handful of parts to make it run on phantom power. True to my personal style, I used a wooden body for it... Was trying to make the capsule less noisy and able to deal with louder sources such as (kick) drums. Have been messing with these for almost ten years now, maybe I'm finally getting somewhere?
