1.5 mil tape on a 388

How important is it to use 1 mil tape on the 388? The cost of the RMGI 1 mil is almost double that of the 1.5 mil RMGI. Could it possibly damage the machine? Or does it just make autoload unusable?

1 mil tape will give you more time on your machine. And it is lighter and easier on your tansport.
For the very few dollars you are talking about why take the chance on messing up a good machine.
I am positive Tascam new what they where doing when they said to use 1 mil tape.
