...happier than you.
O.k.... so... this is crap.. seriously... I decided to do this... I picked a crappy old song that I wrote eons ago... I tried to keep it simple... But the mix sounds like garbage (especially the vocals) and I still ended up going a little over the time limit just to get some "workable" results... I also had to put in a "solo"... and I use the term "solo" very losely... :p (d@mn, it's bad :D) This was a really good reminder of just how limited my talents are. :p

On top of that... I have a cold this weekend. I considered forgoing the excersice just because my head is so cloudy that I can't think straight and my voice isn't in the best shape... but I figured "what the hell". Quite frankly, though, I would normally never post crap like this, but I was determined to get a result out, no matter how lame.

anywhey... this tune was one of my "whim" songs... one day I was sittin' there and I decided to see if I could write a song with the kapo way up on the neck of the guitar... (no.. seriously... that was the "motivation" for this tune.) The kapo is on the 7th (or so) fret for the main git... all gits that come in after that are in standard key.

Oh yeah... and for all those who got confused over my last tune and thought it was aboot a girl... well... this one actually is aboot a girl. (just to avoid any confusion) :p

BTW... I have a whole new respect for the folks here who put out full production 1.5 hour recordings that sounded great. (like crawdad, cranky et al). I seriously can't believe how you can make something sound so good in so little time.

The song is called Roll.

It'll take a lot more than having to wade through a few excuses for you to get the Taylor... :p

(although having to endure that lousy tune comes pretty close) :p

oh yeah... I forgot.. it is a serious tune.. even though the motivation to write was a silly whim, I still put "gooey" lyrics to it. :p

Sounds really good, man.

Now, add drums, a real bass, some evil voice sound FX, background vocals, and obnoxious guitar fills throughout the tune and...ummmm... Oh yeah, write the song in the actual 1.5 hrs.

Or, just stick with this...this is cool. :D :D :D

"crap?!?"

what EV er :p

heh... "tried" to buffer-play it... no workie...

K, finally d'loaded...

That git sounds as good as you've ever had it sounding... and dammit... your vocals sound at LEAST as good as your last, maybe better... maybe the fact that you have a cold makes you NOT force your vocal--it actually sounds more natural, more "open throat"... no froggyness.

Those pre's on the 007 seem to be treating you and your Taylor well. Seriously, your vocals may never sound better. Just get a cold every time you want to crank 'em out... it'd force you to relax them 'chords :)

Great, GREAT lead lines there during the break... yeah... you're a drummer...

my ASS :p

:D agreed ! LOL

nice tune... if you'd have skipped the "solo" I would have been even more impressed ;) over 4:30 too ? talk about doing it the hard way !

well done.... now get some rest

As for me I don't think I'm gonna play this game... as always, way too late to the party.. I think the novelty has worn off by now anyway... there's a sea of these things and I don't have a hope of downloading even half of them. Blah... next time :(

Yeah.. I'm pretty satisfied with 'em.

I dunno... I've listened to it a couple more times, and I guess it's not as horrible as I originally thought.... for some reason, when I was done with the mix I was just disgusted with it... I suppose it's not that bad though...

but that lead still sucks cheese... :p

WATYF

yeah, I know... the board is just smokin' lately because of all these 1.5 songs. I'm pretty sure I've listened to all of em, but it moves so fast that I can't be sure.

by the by... please ignore that first post. :p I was dead sick, and dead tired, and extremely grouchy last night after that rushed recording session... :p I mean, that was even more than my usual amount of self-deprecating slander.

WATYF

it dont have those little play option buttons beside it when i go there. all the rest of the tunes do though. come on cat man, hook a brutha up! :)

well what the hellll....

somehow I unchecked every single download/play option box for that song... man, I was out of it last night... it's a good thing I wasn't driving anywhere...

(if you've already visited the page, you may need to refresh it to get the buttons to show up.)

apologies for my incompetence... :p

(now you don't have to feel so bad, chris... )

kick ass. that acoustic guitar is devine. very impressive. I would have liked a little more vocal up front and maybe a little more spirited to match the devine acoustic tracks... but overall, a kick ass performance!

Great sounding tune WATYF. Very nice vocals and guitar sounds. Very nice song.

I am still waiting to hear the crap part of it because what I am hearing sounds fantastic to me. I love that acoustic. What can I say, I really like it. I am a big fan of Erland and I would put this right up there with his stuff!!!

GREAT!!

now, after you heard your song a few times, you have to believe it and to pay yourself a lot of respect man! cos THIS song sounds really great, and for me it doesn't need anything else(like drums, bass etc.) -it's perfect!

This song is nice. For a DelAmitri rip off.....hehe

needs some weirdness added (maybe Tremolo on one of those guitars..etc.) to distract you from the vocals.....:D
