I have some issues that I would like to address, and am worndering if an 01V will help me to solve them. Here are the criteria:
Mixer for multiple inputs (I think I'm using 7 currently, but no number seems to be enough)
Mic pre-amps for condensers (phantom power)
Inserts for outboard equipment
Integrated effects (until I can add better outboard equipment)
Multiple digital in/outs for reocrding/mixing multiple sources
DAW control/automation (this is a big one. I want to mix on the computer, leveraging plug ins, and I hate mixing with a mouse)
Support for "open" standards, that is, I would like to have the option to change DAW software as I need to. I'm using cakewalk currently.
So I am wondering if the 01v will fill this bill. I am thinking about using it with an ADAT exp and PCI card in the PC, which would theoretically give me 8 in/out to the computer. I have been watching the market for control surfaces which might also fit this bill, but they don't seem to be panning out in practice.
Is anyone using their 01v in a similar fashion? If so, what has been your experience? Is anyone else using another solution (I see tascam also has a digital mixer with automation).
