Too many lists, no desire to wade through and compare three or more different lists. You CAN edit post, you know- delete all except the first post, and edit as you add/remove tubes.

I just notice that you have made a mistake. Instead of "pen1.bg" you have typed in: "pen1.pb"

Hi, I was directed to your thread after making one in the microphones forum. I am going to buy an MXL 9000 and want to replace the tube as apparently it should improve the sound quality. It has a 12at7, what would I be able to replace it with, and what would you recommend? Thanks.

Hello!
I definitely would go for the ECC801S by Telefunken West Germany. I can also assure you that if used at the right way, meaning all parameters intact they will be the last 12AT7 tube you will ever need. Very quite and low-noise. Capable of 10 000++ working hours. Comes in NEW NOS in original boxes.
At the moment I have 3pcs. of them, but I can supply more. They are priced at 125 per tube, but I can lower to 115 per tube if you are interested.

Of course I can also offer 2 types of German RFT ECC81 - with small "O" getter and strengthen support and with single halo "O" getter. Price is 11.5 USD per tube.

I myself would go for the Tele's, but in the end its all depends from the funds.
