That's interesting because I'm sort of the opposite. I track with headphones but I always mix with monitors. The reason is because everything seems to sound great with headphones but when I listen back with any other speaker it never sounds as good, especially the stereo separation.

The first person that comes to mind for me is Ed Gerhard. His recordings always sound great to me.

I always mix at lower volume and I'm still only good for roughly an hour. At higher volume I'm sure it would be less. If I go too long, when I come back to it there are bits that really stick out in a bad way. I can usually correct things quickly but it's still a waste of valuable time.

My individual tracks look like the top wave form but when I render all tracks to stereo it looks more like the bottom one. Compression and limiting will cause the wave form to be more consistent but will also reduce dynamics.

I like your voice and guitar sounds. The hard panned guitars don't bother me but I would like to hear the reverb/delay in the other channel. Record the reverb/delay only on a separate track and experiment with panning.

I use spitfire and like grim said, I record each instrument individually. The start stop times vary a bit, each instrument can be EQ'd individually and each one can be tweaked in the plugin. To me that's what makes them sound authentic. Also, I don't have all of the strings playing at the same...
