Mesa Mini Rectifier -> 2 different speaker 1x12 cabinets

Thanks for the response, but neither cabinet is a MESA cabinet. They were both custom built 1x12 by JDesigns (Jeff Earl). There is no parallel jack out on either cabinet, so there's no way to daisy chain them. That's why I added the part about a "single input" on each cabinet.

Mesa Mini Rectifier -> 2 different speaker 1x12 cabinets

I have two separate 1x12 guitar cabinets (both have a single speaker input) that I’d like to run with my Mesa Mini Rectifier. What’s the best was to accomplish this? Both cabinets have an 8 ohm Vintage 30 speaker. I’m wondering if I could use my Morley ABY in this scenario. The Mesa has two...

    Cabinets / Speaker Enclosures

Mixsit -> When I was searching for an enclosure I was most concerned about that very thing….closed back or open back. Yesterday, I decided to write a blog post about my first experience with the new cabinet and that was pretty much the focus of the post (below). That’s one of the reasons I...

    Cabinets / Speaker Enclosures

I don’t see many posted about speaker enclosures or guitar cabinets in these forums….seems strange to me because it has such a profound impact on tone. I just had a custom 1 X 12 cabinet built recently and it’s had a pretty big impact on my tone. It surprised me. I would have done this sooner...

Should I still invest in SM57s??

Flavors will come and go, but the venerable SM57 is what it is for a reason. First of all it’s an unbelievably flexible studio workhorse. I’m working on an Exovex project with Josh Freese (Devo, NIN, A Perfect Circle) and his snare sound is all SM57 (top and bottom). I used one on acoustic...

    RODE NTK Tube Replacement

Good point....I did burn mine in for 2 days. I honestly wasn't expecting the difference to be so pronounced. The Mullard was awesome too, but there was something about the Telefunken that added a sheen/vibe to the overall response that I liked better. I noticed the proximity effect is now a...

    RODE NTK Tube Replacement

OK…so it only took me 8 years to try this. I had other things going on :guitar: If you’re curious how to do the tube swap it’s pretty easy… Rode NTK Tube Replacement – Telefunken E88CC / Mullard 6922 Gold Pin

    Paying session musicians for tracking

Hey guys...How did you meet the people you were collaborating with in the first place? I mean were they with friends of yours or what?

    Paying session musicians for tracking

That's what I thought also before my last project...now I'm not so sure if it's so important. I mean sure for gigging it's key, but if I'm only interesting in recording...I'm not so sure that it matters.

    Paying session musicians for tracking

Imagine you are a guitarist-songwriter and you need a drummer to record drum tracks on a song that you’re working on. Would you be comfortable getting the drummer to do the tracks in a studio and then sending you the wave files without ever having played with the guy in person? I did this one...

    Home Recording Market Size

Does anyone have an idea of the size of the “home-recording” market in the US? I get the feeling it’s growing fast. I suppose I could look at the sales of the major players in the audio software market (Cubase, Logic, Cakewalk, etc)….maybe the number of audio interfaces sold, but I don’t think...

A Question to All CD Buyers : Jacket or Jewel Box?

Actually....I do the same thing and I get irritated too, but I thought it was just me :)

A Question to All CD Buyers : Jacket or Jewel Box?

We all buy CDs and have different ways of looking at our purchases. My question to you is would you be disappointed to get a 5 song CD in a full color professionally packaged CD jacket as opposed to a jewel box with a color insert? With the jacket there is no way to add lyrical content, but...

Capturing a mixdown with hardware vs In the Box functionality

Is there any consensus on whether it's better to capture a mix with a stand alone system (CDR or another computer) rather than to use the audio mixdown features in a software package. I use Cubase SX 3 for example....24 bit 48k. I need to mix a project and I'm debating whether to invest in a...

Grounding Issue? Hum and electrical popping noise

I think I know what the problem is.... My wall sockets have two holes and no ground prong. The AC cord, I think needs this prong to ground the amp. Would that cause the problem? I'm at work and can not check this right now....will have to wait until tonight.

Grounding Issue? Hum and electrical popping noise

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I just receive my new amp yesterday. Plugged it in and the tone is incredible....as long as I am touching a piece of metal on my guitar (input jack, bridge, strings ect). If I take my hand off of the guitar, I get...
