    Aardvark Q10

When i got my Q10, i went through 3 of them just to a unit that completely worked. First unit, channels 7-8 wouldn't work, second unit channels 3-4 were linked, input on 3 and it came out on 3 and 4; input on 4, it came out 3 and 4. And the second unit would constantly change my sampling rate...

    distortion

no effects of any sort on the output busses. I think next time i'm going to export at 24bits, then bring them back home and dither using cubase, see what happens. I won't get a chance to get back to that studio for a day or two though. thnx -db

    distortion

here is a sample of the problem through a short section of the guitar line. it was exported at 24bit, dithered by soundforge and converted to mp3 by wavelabs. In the studio it sounds like a very nice guitar line with some reverb, kinda pretty and mellow. Thnx, -DB

    distortion

I was using Soundforge to do the dithering, and only a few of the guitar tones seem to be affected by this problem. i was thinking of exporting the OMF files and bringing them to my home and using cubase/wavelabs to see if that helped with the problem, but was trying to avoid this (my studio...

    distortion

I'm currently mixing down a project i've been working on for a long while now, and in the studio everything sounds completely great and wonderful (not my studio). But once the tracks are exported and cut to a cd in a test mix, all of my clean track guitars have an annoying high end distortion...

    Sx2

Just purchased my copy of Cubase SX 2.0, so now i'm finally legal i guess. Went from one of those guys who are to poor to buy it and want to try it out to one of those guys who are now poor because they saved up and bought it. Currently I have nothing to try it with, its on order and the old...

    Exporting Trax

I'm currently work on a project with a band. I'm doing the recording at the location using their DAW (Delta 1010 -> Sonar 2.2). I am wanting to export the tracks from Sonar and import them into a Mackie 2496 Hard Drive Unit so that it can be Edited/Mixed in the studio using a Mackie d8b. Is...

Members average number of mics and a list...

My mic collection hasn't really grown to much in a while, bands are taking my money now. (4) Shure SM57 (1) Shure Beta 52 (1) AKG D112 (2) SP C1 (one old w/out rolloffs and such) (2) Behr*nger ECM8000 Right now it seems to be doing most of the work that I need them to do.

    Midi

Alright, i've been in the computer home recording for some time now, but i've never touched MIDI (more of a mic everything up and see where it goes type of a person). I'd like to learn about it and its uses, but don't really know where to start. Could someone point me to a good website that...

    SM 57 is garbage

hmmm, that Radio Shack mixer looks a bit suspect. There is a good reason why R/S stuff gets dogged on alot, your best bet would be to try to get a 1/2 decent mic pre as opposed to getting a new mic. -DB

Finally got a 1/2 decent mix out

Queue, you are correct with the punk vibe. That was the initial intention, accoustic into into full blown punk/pop type sound. But after 3 days of working on a full punk assortment for it, it just wasn't comming together as planned. So we decided to do the accoustic intro and thought it sounded...

Anyone want to rip apart a newbies feeble attempt at punk rock recording??

feedback from a newbie Really liked the intro and the clean guitar section. Personally I think I would add more low end to the guitar especially through the verse, a bit more low end on the kick keeping the bass riding on top and boost the back ground vox towards the end. But then again, what...

my new tune is up at mp3.com

Gave your song a listen. The type of music isn't really my thing, but I must admit it was interesting. I especially like about 3/4 of the way through had the old nintendo-esque music. Reminded me of my younger days playing the original megaman or something. DB

Finally got a 1/2 decent mix out

I was wanting to get some feedback on a song I finally got out the door. It is called 'Del Mar Fair'. I currently only have it located at www.mp3.com/blue_skies_ahead but hope to have it hosted soon. Don't worry about listening to the other songs, they are some of our first self recordings and...

    Yamaha DSP -> Cubase 5.0 -> DSP

I currently run a Yamaha Factory DSP as my recording sound card. I am trying to get the signal from a channel in cubase to show up on the Cubase's DPS Factory integrated mixer. The master stereo output shows up on the DSP's channel 1+2, but I am unable to route other individual channels to the...

Stereo Overhead Problems...Quick answer is possible

Have you tried to see if the level meters on the board are showing a signal just in the right/left. I would definitely go with Emric's suggestion if possible. I also have a 2004a Behringer board, and did some recording the same way you are attempting to. I remember I had many problems with it...

    Mic an AC Guitar

This weekend i'll be micing and accoustic/electric guitar. I have had some success in getting a good sound by using 1 Samson R11 over the guitarists shoulder (pan HL), 1 pointing down the fretboard toward the neck joint (pan HR) and using the C1 as a room mic ~4 ft. from the guitarist (pan...
