update:
I thought that the shortest way to test whether the spx was working was to simply plug the mic into it and then to the m-audio.
had I not done this.
it did prove that it worked but there was much ground noise so I turned all the knobs down and plug everything off apart from the...
well to cut a long story short, I got an m-audio fast track usb 8r and a yamaha spx 990... I used to use the yamaha in a studio enviroment, as a sound recording student, but everything there was set up and running so we just plugged stuff in the patchbay and route everything on an audient mixing...
yeah, sorry I meant TS...
p.s. btw, I know this is a bit OT, but I asked for 2 cables to connect my monitor speakers at the shop and they gave me some TS instrument cables.. while of course the speaker inputs are balanced, and the interface outputs are TRS...
is there any potential harm for the...
thanks for the schmatics, it looks really simple, I'll have my friend have a look at it...
the only thing... doesn't it provide with a TRS out for returning the signal to an amp?
sorry, I hadn't seen the DIY section...
and thanks for the answer..
since, as I said, I'm really blank about opamps and this kind of stuff...
what are the pros and cons of single over dual?
and can you give me an example of one good single opamp and a good dual one?
then, you listed some nice...
Hi there, need some advice from you guys..
Bear in mind I'm falling in the trap of diy... I've never done anything before but a friend of mine (who's got some circuitry blah blah knowledge and can solder!) is willing to help...
I've read a little bit of stuff over the internet about diy di...
yeah, I agree with fraserhutch, I wouldn't EQ to tape cause in most cases you won't know what EQing works best until you have all of your tracks recorded and ready to be mixed...
if you get it wrong in the first place, then you could end up with bad final results as overEQing to fix mistakes can...
yeah, lemontree's right. also you might want to have a look at the computers shielding.
or maybe you have a noisy fan that you might want to replace, and it wouldn't be a costy operation, way cheeper than buying a piece of equipment that won't solve your problem.
i have tried a tube screamer 808 and it sounded pretty warm and thick to me.
i own a boss superoverdrive and i'm pretty happy with its slightly acid but controlled sound, but of course if what you're after is warmth maybe it's not the right one for you. that said we can't forget the sound of...
as lemontree said quite clearly, the gate won't solve your problem because it doesn't eliminate continous sounds below a certain dB level, it will only silence your track until a sound loud enough opens the gate: at that point everything in the track can be heard, preamp's buzzing included...
hello wise people!
when I studied music and sound technology in the UK, during the sound recording module I would learn how to run a recording session throgh radar 24 using an audient asp8024 and some very cool outboard gear.
now the problem is I'm used to the physical thing and tend to dislike...
why on earth no reverb? I tend to use little reverb on everything, right to "open" the sound a bit. if you use reverb on all the instrument but bass, this will tend to sound innatural IMO.
surely depends on the context (also for compression, settings can vary depending on what you're trying to...
well, maybe because they're confortable with it or because it's not a limitation for the use they make of it or because they can't afford buying a complete software! ;)
yep but if you already have LE what's the problem?
i mean, of course the m-powered version gives you more functions, but PT LE is one of the most complete LE out there... also... 32 tracks not enough? are you kidding me? if you need more there are many tricks to do... let's say your project...
Hello everyone,
I am in true Hamletic doubt about the next audio interface I should buy.
I don't like very much my tapco link.usb (i don't find it particularly silent and i can't tolerate tracktion software).
I think I'll go for an M-Audio (mainly cause it's the only pro-tools compatible with...
