Another gem for cheapies out there like me - Mitchell MD100SCE acoustic guitar review

Heh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I tried to figure it out at one point but nothing came up in my google search. The neck on mine feels great space-wise, but I have big paws. I'd like to take mine apart to examine it's construction because this guitar sounds head and shoulders above...

Another gem for cheapies out there like me - Mitchell MD100SCE acoustic guitar review

Hey everybody, I wanted to take some time today to write a review and possibly start a discussion on the Mitchell MD100-SCE acoustic guitar, which is probably the most surprising instrument I have ever played. I have owned this guitar for way over a year now, so this is not a "honeymoon" review...

Here's Your Big Chance To TOTALLY Diss A Famous Guitarist

Mark Tremonti (Creed). All of that equipment and rack BS for a standard rock tone...

SX STL62 & AXL Eldorado SE w/ AmpliTube Fender

Hey, very nice. Great playing. I also use amplitube. Don't have the fender version though. I like the amplitube sounds better than guitar rig but I loatheeeee amplitube's interface.

    Purchasing a used tube amp

6L6/El34tubes sometimes will glow bluish normally although less frequently for the 34s. el84s/12ax7s will usually glow orange, some will have blue near the base. No PURPLE should be seen on any of these tubes. None should be glowing excessively around the plate (at the base of the tube), this is...

Anyone else getting a spam attack "from" Line 6?

Did you mean Thunderbird, the Mozilla email client? I use it and have had that problem before (not with line6 h/e). Clearing all of my emails and restarting my computer fixed it. Weird glitch.

can i improve upon my precision bass guts?

I concur. Btw the pots were probably just dirty and needed to be cleaned with contact cleaner. However if they were crappy pots you should just replace them anyway.

Whats the deal with Mesa Boogies.

I've been saying for years that they are over-the-top with their features. Look at the Road King for example, it took me 40 minutes to dial in a standard heavy rock tone. Pots for this, switches for that, on and on and on. Four channels? But there are good sides. Once I found what I was...

Marshall MG halfstack - not great, but not the worst amp ever

It's one of the better solid state heavy distortion amps I've heard lately. Still no match for a nice tube amp with cascading gain stages, but if you prize reliability and zero maintenance... maybe this would be your amp until you can afford the real thing. I'm usually one of the solid state...

Marshall MG halfstack - not great, but not the worst amp ever

I think that these are some of the better beginner's solid state amps.

my vintage club has volume issues

Thanks +1. Why does this happen? Just age, or crappy joints in the first place? I really like this amp, it's one of the only crates that sounds good.

I could use some new pickups

Oh. I thought they were pafs. My bad. But yeah keep them if you ever want to sell the guitar. People lowball you left and right if a part isn't original. And in retrospect, what a funny name for a guitar.

your vintage gibby pickup should fetch some cash on ebay, just a heads up

ughhh that styling....so over-the-top californiaish. It would be interesting to hear it in action though.

Marshall MG halfstack - not great, but not the worst amp ever

I try to use whatever the club I'm gigging at has to avoid carting my expensive stuff around, which is a pain in the ass in new york city. I don't keep a car in the city. The club I played at the other day had a Marshall mg half stack as part of their backline. I'm not sure if the cab was mg...

my vintage club has volume issues

It's always been this way. It's something that has always sort of bothered me about this amp, but it doesn't really effect the sound at all. The clean channel is ridiculously louder than the dirty channel. The overdrive channel will also gradually get louder, and the clean channel will all of a...

Today I learned why Guitar Center is awesome

It really depends. I go to the one in Manhattan on 14th st. and they are usually pretty cool. However I also frequent the one In East Brunswick NJ, and the guys there are very condescending for people who aren't very knowledgeable at all. It's hit or miss. I find myself going to GC when I want...

    Good headphones for under $30?

Hey brother, I know what it's like to have no dough. I'm in professional school and will be in considerable debt when I'm done. Listen to the people here. You can't mix in headphones. For computer based recording I think a decent set of speakers/monitors will do you more. The m-audio av30 (15...

I need some advice soldering new potentiometers to a PCB

Cool, thank you very much. I don't have a desoldering tool so cutting the pot out is definitely the way to go.It is going to be a very big pain in the behind to disassemble the amp and get the board out. That's going to be harder than soldering the new pots on.
