    RWRP middle pickup question

I don't care for reverse wound middle pup. I'm old school. I like all 3 wound the same. In in-between switch positions have much better tone. If I want hum canceling I'll play a humbucker guitar.

    RWRP middle pickup question

I have never liked the reverse wound middle pickup on fender strat pickuo sets sets. The tone is not as good as it is with traditionally woud sets, warts (60 cycle hum) and all. If 60 cycle hum is unbearable but you want the best tone....get a noise gate instead of a RWMP

I wouldn't try to fix it. Just play it man!

    Up for a new amp...

You have to decide if you are an amp collector/investor or a working musician. Example: I bought a 1966 fender strat in 1976 for $150. I was laughed at by my musician friends at the time. (It was a "post CBS" and would nevet be worth squat) Anyway, the trembar broke off in the block..I replaced...

They will break one off in you here too. I just lucked out. The tech who I use was in a band with me years ago. He ran a lamp factory for years and was always an ace at fixing electronics. He married a wealth lady and is retired. He dosen't really care about making any money...he just loves...

I can't crank my pro reverb up to that point either. Get you a good overdrive pedal. I recommend a boss blues driver. That's what I'm using and I love it.

Owning and using vintage fender tube amps is hard if you don't have a good tube amp tech.

    Up for a new amp...

First off install a grounded plug on the power supply cord. A lot of the time a noisy amp is due to a bad cap or grounding issue. Could be a tube. After the amp warms up take a pencil and lightly tap each tube. If the tapping is amplified the tube is microphonic and needs replacing. Microphonic...

Guitar 'truths" that you believe are myths

Exactly. Look at a gibson les paul. The lines are large at the back, gets smaller coming into the cutaway, goes up the neck and blossoms out through the headstock (subtlety) The pointy type headstock works on a flying V....not so much on a les paul. Heritage is batting a thousand all the way up...

Guitar 'truths" that you believe are myths

Well, let me re-phrase... Gibson and Fender trademarked the coolest headstock design. I'm not just talking about strats and les pauls. I'm talking about all their headstocks. Strat, tele, les paul, explorer. Firebird flying v. Those 2 companies have trademarked and own those headstock designs...

Guitar 'truths" that you believe are myths

Gibson and Fender pretty much created the coolest headstock shapes very early on.

Guitar 'truths" that you believe are myths

I just sold a early 1980's Vantage les paul copy (bolt on neck)..it looks like heritage copied their headstock. It was a cool looking guitar but I really didn't care for the headatock. Heritage should have just copied the Gibson headstock and not have the cutout in the middle that makes it "open...

The 1st Guitar Riff You Learned was?

That is the first riff I learned too! Man, it would have been nice to have the internet guitar tutorials back then. All you had was the Mel Bay guitar course or albums and a turntable. I chose albums and a turn table. I quickly learned that 16 speed on the turntable was half speed and an octave...

Where have all the acoustic drums gone ?

Same here. I I have a small "room within a room built out of pallets. It's 6x8' with a sliding glass door glass panels sandwiched and turned sideways for a double glass window. I foot ceiling. I get great results on acoustic drums with it. I use 2 Electra voice EV 410 hand held condensers for...

Baxendale Conversions, world class acoustic guitars at prices musicians can afford.

So, if I were to find an old harmony, Kay, or Silverstone, what does a conversion cost ball park? I'm a fan of those red dot Yamaha from the 70's...fantastic projection and nice tone as well. Unfortunately most have bellied and need a neck reset at this point.

It sounds amazing as is. Rich tone and more projection than a D28. I was just curious.

Gibson is not a good company.

I said "Dubabo" pickups in my les paul. It's Durbano not Dubabo. They were made by the pickup winder from Australlia "Mr Fabulous". He sells pickups on reverb.com. I probably wouldn't have rolled the dice on a set myself, but the Les Paul was loaded with them when I bought it. I'm REALLY...

Gibson is not a good company.

I have to say, the used 2011 les paul traditional i recently bought is about as fine a guitar as I've ever owned. I can't find any fit and finish flaws. The fret work is awesome...I tightened the truss and lowered the action so low it was unbelievable. Not a dead note anywhere. It was actually...
