    Home Recording Challenge #1

I want to do one of your recordings, but I wrote the lyrics. :laughings: Is that against the rules?

help with USB AT2020 mic + reverb monitoring

I've noticed that with some effects you get latency issues, with others it's imperceptible. Just depends on the effect and your hardware. Good luck!

help with USB AT2020 mic + reverb monitoring

I'm not sure if Audacity will do it, but Reaper has record monitoring and you can download and try the uncrippled version for free.

    What software do you advice?

Sorry, forgot about Question 2. A simple USB MIDI interface should be enough. As far as I know, most will come with both MIDI in and out. Does your keyboard have a MIDI in as well as out? To play back the sounds on your keyboard it will have to have a MIDI in. Otherwise, you can record the...

    What software do you advice?

You can download and try Reaper for free. It's super cheap to register and the trial version runs forever so you can be 100% certain before you purchase. There is a Reaper forum on this site (https://homerecording.com/bbs/user-forums-brand/dont-fear-reaper/) where you can ask questions. It...

    Digital recording?

That's a pretty broad question. You should try recording something, playing around with it until it sounds good to you, and posting in the MP3 clinic for specific tips.

It's kind of personal now. "Pot Of Gold"

I really liked the vocals. I'm probably just crazy, but they made me think of Pink Floyd. ??? Anyway, cool tune! :D

Should I buy a Presonus Firebox

Audacity works fine on my PC. I also use Reaper, which has been great for me. You can try it for free, so you really have nothing to lose checking it out.

I'm not, but I'll try boosting just a little and see how that sounds. Thanks for listening!

    "Monochrome"

The clean guitar is my strat run direct with Amplitube Fender and if I remember correctly, its the Twin amp simulation in a patch I made. I realize a lot of people hate the digital stuff and in a perfect world I'd always use my real amp, but I do most of my recording at night after everyone...

    Help Me Out

I've only made a few recordings and have very little idea of what I'm doing, but if EQ'ing the vocals isn't working, maybe try EQ'ing the piano part to um... "get it out of the way", if that makes any sense? I haven't the slightest idea what to cut to make that happen, but I use the EQ that...

Eight More Miles to Louisville - Mick (Grandpa) Jones

I liked it. It sounds good. I agree with Chris about the reverb. Sounds weird with this style of music, if that makes any sense. It probably doesn't, I have no idea what I'm talking about. I just envision a more "raw" sound with this genre. ??? Ok, I'll shut up. Nice recording, great...

    Pop Rock/Punk song... mixing advice?

If I knew myself how to mix a drum kit I'd say something constructive and helpful. However, on my monitors the drums sound clear. I'm really only saying this because I can distinctly hear your bass drum and its not killing everything else, unlike my mixes which are one extreme or another...
