I am using Reason to sequence stuff using an old 12 inch 867 640mb powerbook G4. It is fine for this as well as ableton live. (I use older versions of these programs) I am thinking of maxing out the ram to 1152 from what it is now. Do you think that will make a difference at all?

What exactly is the difference between a DI box and a pre amp or are they essentially the same thing? I understand a DI box might be used for instruments rather than for mics, but in effect many people play their guitars/basses through what are essentially "mic preamps"....any thoughts? thanks...
