    Nowhere Man….. just for fun

New tune hot off the griddle...

That sounded like a pretty fun jam. Maybe some intonation problems with vocal and instruments. You did a good job recording everything. How much of that was recorded live, and how much was overdubs?

    Momma Cry.........

I kinda like the growls :) The high vocal does sound like canned heat. Just needs a solid rhythm section to go with it. Good so far.

They're all gonna laugh at me...

Not a bad sound. I think the vocal needs to be louder and more present. Nice easy listen though.

    Review our song!

LOL..... sounds like a cheech and chong song without the accent. Guitar solo sounded like .... oh never mind. You pretty well got that piano riff figured out. Seriously, you gotta admit that the chord progression is pretty simple and repetitive. Not that simple and repetitive is always...

    original song.....tribute to Boston

The guitars sound pretty good.... but the drums are not. Vocals are about an octave and a half to low :) Liked the song okay. But really, the drums don't work for high energy rock.

    Trying to sound live

If I was gonna record the whole band live...... on a 16 channel (assuming you can record 8 at once) .... I'd mic the drums in 4 spots, put a 57 in front of each guitar amp, a beta 52 in front of the bass amp, and record the singer direct. (with her standing behind all the noise:)) And if I...

    Trying to sound live

Not a bad sound. In my opinion the drummer is the weak link. Mix wise.... I like to hear the guitars panned more extreme to opposite sides. And I think the vocal needs a touch of reverb to make it sound like it fits in the mix. Also, I'd like to know how you are recording the guitars...

Mostly cheap gear, but it works...

Really fortunate you could get studio-vogue to host your mp3 for you.

New Tune "Wasted Years" Check it Out

Good mix. I like the verb on the solo guitar, but yet it sits to far back in the mix in my opinion. All the guitars were played nicely. Vocal was good and solid. Real musially sound as well. Lyrically it wasn't my thing.... but that doesn't mean it's not good. You know the drums just...

FOLK-ROCK: How can this mix be improved?

Man.... I think it sounds really good. Mix wise.... the vocal needs to be louder. I think the blend between acoustic guitar and percussion is good. I probably wouldn't mess with that. (others may say the git needs to be louder). The "make-do" bass even works for this song. But best...

    Your Name............Please Critique This One!

I just listened to it again. You know... what I would do is this.... I'd pick out about 3 lines during the verse that you could sing harmony with... I mean influential lines. (I think I could tell you which lines need the emphasis) Then on the chorus I'd find a gal that is part soprano and...

    I checked it out.

    acoustic fingerstyle mp3's

I listened to both. Thought the guitar was recorded well. Playing was good at times ...... and not so good at others. But by and large pretty good picking. What I'd do different? When you pick.... make sure and emphasise the melody. Sometimes you do... and other times it gets lost...

    covers for mix evaluation..please

I listened to both songs. This really peaked my interest because I record on an AW4416 also. But I don't have two tied together. I'd have a lot of questions about how that functions. A second one is pretty cheap to pick up these days. But regarding the songs. First.... I think you sing...

    check out this rnb track

I guess I don't get it? I mean.... you pretty well got that guitar lick figured out. The drum track has some issues though.

    New Tune

I like the song. Really I like the song better than I like the performance / production. I just think you need to team up with a really good guitarist who could be creative with a guitar and add a lot to the song. I think the keys all work well. And the vocal has a uniqueness about it...

Sorry My Fault (It's Just A Ride)

It's a toe tapper. I'm not a huge fan of the "keyboard produced" deals..... and I knew that going into it.... but it was fun. It's got a lot of reverb on the vocal..... You know.... when the vocals first started.... I thought this needs to be a Meatloaf song. His voice, Todd's guitar and...

    Your Name............Please Critique This One!

It's a pretty nice song. There's a cymbal that kinda sticks out. About 10 seconds and again at 49 seconds. (maybe same sample at later parts in the song too). It's not a very good sounding cymbal in my opinion. I think the vocal would be better with less effects on it, and a little...

Simple and economical recording set up for guitar

Or.... you could just plug your acoustic guitar straight in, add some low mid eq, then tell everyone that you used a mic somewhere along the chain..... and get a very common sound.
