yea, I see the new ones are selling out already- and I'm really anxious to hear reviews vs MSH1's. I'm curious if the 'lower' noise is physical/handling noise, because the dBA self-noise measurements are the same...

I noticed that the MSH-2, (with larger 10mm capsule), has a narrower freq. response than the MSH-1 (from 20Hz- 20KHz for MSH-1 to 40Hz-16KHz for MSH-2)- but the self-noise is the same for both @ 20 dBA. I'm curious to hear Mshilarious' take on suggested applications between the two series....

I think used recording gear is a great idea- and I just bought Kensington's Peluso CEMC6 (should get here Friday!). I do prefer to buy from boards/groups like this one, where it's a smaller pool of individuals you can trust- as opposed to ebay. Anyone else want to sell me a used CEMC6?

I'm trying to get a decent recording system with my Dell Latitude D610- I tried Mackie's Onyx Satellite, but the phantom power caused a very loud hum, so I shipped it back. Then I tried EMU 1616 cardbus, but the card gets so hot within 45 minutes or so that it stops working. So I'm shipping...

I ownded a mackie onyx satellite, and it was great, until I switched on the phantom power- very noticeable hum, even/odd harmonics of 6 KHZ. So I sent it back.... Still not sure what to replace it with (I want to run off of my Dell Latitude D610 laptop)- maybe the MOTU Ultralite?
