Too Much Gain for Delta 1010LT

Yes, if you turn down the input levels you should be able to add more gain on the mixer as long as you dont clip the mixer.

Too Much Gain for Delta 1010LT

You should be able to open up your delta control panel and under the tab called Hardware Settings there will be the option to adjust the input and output levels of the card.

Noise gates on mic bleeds- why bother?

I agree that there is really no reason to use a gate to cut noise with digital recording. Volume automation is far more precise. However, in defense of the lowly gate, it can still be useful as an effect. You can use it to create some weird sucking sounds. It's also really common to hear it used...

I'd be interested to try these. Are there different velocities?

    Free Vst Plugin site

Never used the site, but from messing around with it for the last few minutes, you just have to click on the picture for a particular plug and it will take you to the dev's site and there will be a download link.

    oops!

Are you saying that you accidentally recorded at 16 bit? If so then I would just listen to what you have and see if it sounds bad. It probably wont. Lots of people still record a 16 bit. You do end up there anyway so there will be no dithering for you. There are benefits to 24 bit, but as long...

    testing

I always sing the parts again. I dont do vocal comps either. I just sing the song all the way through. I may have to do a few takes to get it how I want it, but it makes it more fun for me.

Using electric guitars with a bass amp

Ok, what kind of interface are you using? If you are able to, it would be very helpful for you to get yourself a cheap preamp. You dont have to spend alot of money. You could even get by with a cheap little mixer at first as it will have preamps on it. Not great ones, but they will do until you...

Using electric guitars with a bass amp

you wont hurt anything running your guitar through a bass amp. My favorite set up is a fender tonepro head running a Gallien and Kruger bass cab. Sounds weird I know, but it crunches so nicely. As for using a "microphone through a guitar amp to pick up a bass amp", I'm not quite sure what you...

    Then I Cry

I think this sounds really good. The vocals are a little too upfront for my personal taste though. I'm not sure what you've done to the lead vox already, but my first thought if this was my song would be to lower the volume until I thought that the louder parts were at the right level of...

    Punk rock project

That kick sound is definately too clicky for these particular songs. Sounds like there's too much beater, may be the sample though. The vocals at times remind me a little of Jello Biafra. Not overly so, but a little. I think that the mix as a whole lacks some cohesion. I almost feel like I'm...

    Elliot Smith Cover

This is excellent. I tend to like it when a cover is changed around to sound more different from the original, but this is really great nonetheless. I have always liked this song. Thanks for sharing it.

    Centro-matic?

Wow, thanks guys. I have two of the amps on that list so I'll start there I guess. Glad to see some others who at least are familiar with the band. I dont know too many down here in South Florida. I really love the sound of their records. Almost broken sounding, but beautiful at the same time...

    Centro-matic?

Hello all. I have been listening to a band called Centro-matic quite alot lately and I really have come to love some of the guitar sounds. I was wondering if any of you who might be familiar with the band had any ideas as to how to approximate the sound? I have been experimenting, but no luck...

    Which Program Is Better

The simple answer is: whichever one most enhances your personal workflow and allows you to accomplish your goals. Anyone who claims that any one program is the absolute best is just throwing their ego around or trying to justify a purchase.

    Starting Computer recording

The most basic thing you need if you're going to use the blaster is something to convert the usual 1/4 inch plugs or xlr from most audio gear to 1/8 inch mini plugs that are on that card. That said, you'd be better off I think just getting an M-Audio audiophile or something similar as the...
