Simple ? - an easy multitrack microphone

I know :p, but I can't do $400...It'll just be one of those things to work with. In fact it seems the DR-40 can't bounce. How retarded, unlike these advanced cassette decks. I saw a korg which can but only has a single 1/8 microphone input.

Simple ? - an easy multitrack microphone

Is there anything comparable to the Tascam dr-40 around that price? I think that's the only bet. Hell, I may pick up a 4 track cassette, seems it's the same price and usability as in the 90s.

Simple ? - an easy multitrack microphone

Oh, battery or plug in is fine, preamp only is fine, price has to be for sure under 200 or really 150.

Simple ? - an easy multitrack microphone

Hi, I don't mean to be lazy since I am researching this now, but in case I miss any products: I have a nice indie style studio, but no time to record. I'm looking for an all in one to record drums, guitar, guitar, bass, vocals, vocals. Maybe 8 or 16 tracks to just get er done; ideas down...

Behringer ADA8000 as a mic preamp?

That assumes that my actions make sense...;) I'd be more worried about the noise that kind of switch might add, on top of the noise floor the mic pre already has.

Frequency Response - vertical lines mean?

I hate it when you just get that urge to learn something and you don't have the time to spend learning it...it all makes sense now. Thanks, you all answered my question.

Frequency Response - vertical lines mean?

I'll have more time to look at it later tonight....so I'll check if it's typically log base ten, with the vertical lines bunching up closer to it non logarithmic identifiers. I guess that's why one of my linked graphs goes up to 100,000. like 20 30 40 50 60 70 80 90 ->100<- space 200 300...

Frequency Response - vertical lines mean?

I googled this, it seems like a noob question, though I've done plenty of recording. I'm guessing that the vertical lines on a frequency response graph are uneven in order to represent how humans hear low -> high frequencies. Despite a quick unhelpful google search here at work, I've always...

Behringer ADA8000 as a mic preamp?

Aww, that makes me sad - I have the ADA800 and as already stated, the gain/pres are really not that great (but ALSO by my calculation, better than zilch ;) ), but I wonder if there's a way to solder in a direct connection.... Unless the A/D happens at non line levels (like perhaps at lower...

ART Digital MPA tube preamp left channel intermittently dying

...after it warms up to operating temperature. the thing probably shipped damaged in the first place, 4 years ago when I got it, because the digital side doesn't work right. I can't get it to synch to spdif no matter what settings I try (correct setting, incorrect settings, and variable...

    why people build studios

I have all my own equipment and gear for the same reason I own all my own instruments. Sure some $3k mic would sound better. But how much would it cost to hang out at even some budget studio, recording your music whenever you are in the mood/have the time - for, say, a few years?

Which has better A/D - Sony PS-LX300USB turntable or Alesis IO|26?

I'm gonna start ripping my vinyl collection down to...well eventually down to 16/44.1. Topic same as title - I'd do 88.2Khz recording plugged directly into the phono inputs of the Alesis io26 and then dither to 44.1, OR do 44.1 through the Sony USB system, assuming I don't have to install some...

hey sorry i never got your message...got out of recording at that time. i would like one but finances forced me to sell. it's worth what someone will pay, right? so i went specifically to enthusiast websites and sold it for 115 or something. i honestly wish i hadn't...i think the value has...

short drum clip - help with tracking

so....finally my first recording where I can spend a little time tweaking and looking for a good sound. Here is a clip (playing tired and aggravated :)) after 8 hours of setting everything up...just jumping on the drums, so please excuse the crappy playing...at 30 seconds i tighten the snares...

    Sound Absorption... HELP?

I was reading through my dad's (the President, Obama) Harvard books lately and it said, "relax, man". :p You're in that unique situation for people here where you have a bit of time and money to make something but no real ability to change locations, right? Anyways, try your idea as long as...

    recording techniq...a cheatsheet for musicians

The decision of producer ain't one I'll miss again. At this point however a proper studio charging for time won't happen for a year, unless I get hooked up by the end of this summer. Right now it's just free recordings when I have time (engineering student). Just did a apex 205 mod...golly...

    recording techniq...a cheatsheet for musicians

That's my latest lesson. I recently remastered my first evar multitrack recording and am astounded at how much I cranked some of the DAW EQ and multiband compression and more....yikes! From being tracked badly to mixed like tonka toys... Reverb like the stoner guitarist wanted...
