    Guitar storage???

I'm told it's a good idea, if storing the guitar in it's case, to lay it on it's back/front or stand it straight up. Laying it on it's side could cause unneccessary stress on the neck.

I just picked up a Carl Martin Red Repeat - i love it. The right price (~$110) and sounds great.

    My SM57 into a Firebox

One easy solution (albeit more $) is to buy a preamp... I did so, and it definitely helps!

    Mesa Boogie DC-3

I used to have a DC-2 and I really liked it - but I ended up selling it because 1) I wasn't in love with the clean tones - just wasn't what I was looking for (happier with my Hot Rod Deluxe). I also didn't love the dirty channel - and given that's where a mesa ought to shine, the DC-2 just...

    Studio pictures on the forum?

I've been hunting for desk ideas...(https://homerecording.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=189445) and hence was wondering - is there a photo gallery on the forum (or elsewhere) where I can look through pictures of people's studio's? I sure would help me get an idea of what others are using for desks...

    Studio desk

I'm hunting a studio desk (about ~40" wide) that will allow me to put my computer monitor, small mixer, (2) monitors, and other small accessorys on it (i..e no piano keyboard or rack stuff needed - it's off to the side). The trick is that I'd prefer NOT to have a shelf so commonly seen (and...

Is it important to use a mic stand when micing an amp?

if $ is of concern (even $20), buy the $3.99 surface mount then screw it onto a piece of wood (or nearly anything) - then at least you have some control over direction and the mic is off the ground... http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2131024

    My SM57 into a Firebox

Hey - I'm the "guy" complaining about the same setup. I have an MD421 and SM57 with a firebox. I haven't looked closely since a few days ago (been traveling for work), but I believe I have to set my pre at over 80% with the SM57 pointed at my hot rod deluxe - which is playing at a comfortable...

    studio table/desk

I'm looking for a table (or perhaps a desk) to set perpedicular to my actual studio desk. My biggest constraint is that is CANNOT be longer than 44" (due to wall&bed). I would prefer it to be ~25" high and 20" deep. So many things are 48" long, which has made it tough. Short of making...

    telecaster question

Look at the Hot Rod Deluxe. Has some great tones and a really pure tube clean channel - hence you'll be able run some great effects through it if you like. It's a great price, portable, plenty loud, etc. I've owned Mesa's, VHT's, etc - and I really love the hot rod deluxe.

Modified acoustic treatment for recording amp

I've been doing a lot of reading on acoustic treatment for rooms. Like so many of us, I'm limited on what I can do to the room I'm in - so I was wondering... If I'm recording my amp with a couple of mic's close up (57 and MD421), could I "trick" the room into sounding better if I put a piece of...

    Cable management

Is there a good way of keeping them 90 degrees (or just not parallel)? I don't know about you, but if I didn't have them taped/fixed somehow, they would (and currently do!) move all over the place...

    Cable management

Hard-wired cable management. Namely keeping power cables & audio cables correctly sorted (and apparently >3' apart or crossing at 90 degree). Thanks!

    Firewire/microphone

You need to change your recording setting to record in Mono, not stereo.
