why can't i choose my "mixer device" to be my line-in port. that's where i would plug my monitors into. (it only lets me choose my USB interface or the computer mic i bought a LONG time ago as the playback devices.) right now i have them plugged into my USB interface and that into a USB port...

how can i just record the guitar part with the verse, and then maybe lay down the chorus next? how can i do this without it sounding like i did the two parts separately? is there a special function i can use that i could do this? (besides starting a new track, and laying down the chorus part there?)

just wondering. and where/how?
