Why guitarists get all the fun!!?

Yeah, I always end up googling my favorite sounding musicians to research and find out specifically what gear they use that sounds so awesome to me. So much gear, yet the best sounding stuff almost always seems like just the right bass/pickups/strings/cables and amp/amp settings are all they...

    Gear & Technique

I think I figured it out, I found based on what angle I'm strumming at it sounds best. If I strum "down" like straight down the line of strings completely not at an angle it sounds shitty but if I hold the pick at like a 45° angle from the strings and strum and pick at that angle it comes alive...

    Gear & Technique

Great advice all, I'll try everything. I've got a pretty simple setup to keep everything as simple as possible. Jackson Ke2 straight to a Marshall TSL122 with a Hotplate. I've tried a ton of different stuff and it just makes it sound different so I keep going back to the basics. Gonna try some...

    Gear & Technique

Over the last five or six years I've assembled a mini guitar gear room in the thought that I could some how attain the best possible guitar tone I can. Though I already know gear is just one part of the equation and technique and skill are huge parts too, have any of you intentionally altered...

i hear layered compression artifacts all over this. your mixing style is unmistakable and quite good but the music you mix is atrocious.

    ribbon metal

does anyone know of any professional metal guitar recordings or albums they know have been recorded with a good or high-end ribbon mic just so i can see if i can hear the differences? or maybe something with a dynamic and a ribbon? seems hard to find something metal that i know for sure has...

oh for gods sake, how can this thread end. why don't i just incarnate you into all other people that you've some how affected, no matter how little, throughout your entire existence and transfer everything you've never even known you've ever caused directly into your mind. manifesting an...

Do you really buy that expensive recording software?

curse this forum. i first found about UAD so i've been using them for a while. then i lurked too much and found about URS plugs which i had to try and holy shit, plugins that actually do something! bloody drained $985 from ye olde bank account. fuck! oh well more artillery against this hideous...

    Sonar 5 with DFHS

well, if you've already installed your padcontrol, sonar should list it under Options -> Midi Devices. make sure the padcontrol is highlighted and at the very top of the list under "Input". in sonar, in a midi track, assign the midi track input to the padcontrol and the output to DFHS...
