hello JuicyDbase-do you have anything else attached to your laptop (ie external harddrive/cd burner/etc)?...not sure if it is the same 'drop outs' that you are speaking of, but when i have my external hd/cd burner attached (via usb) i get a lot of sputtering and popping going on when playing...

EMAD!...very nice...nothing in my kick drum anymore!...has anyone here used the emad reso head yet?

had a pair of 5b's...broke them (and i don't play very hard)...easton replaced them...i broke them...they replaced them and suggested i use 2b's...i now have a pair of 5b's and 2b's, but went back to playing wood sticks...nothing like the real thing :D oh and btw, i never broke any cymbals.

thanks lpdeluxe...do you know anything about the indigo i/o cards? am also considering that, but just not sure what would be the best approach (keep in mind affordability) to record to my laptop...will be sending from my mixer to the soundcard, but will be tracking multiple tracks while...

is anyone here using cep 2.0 with m-audio's firewire audiophile unit? am toying w/going this route coupled w/my laptop. any comments would be appreciated :)

i'll have to admit, this approach/technology has my interest...just makes sense to have a unit that you can use as your live mixer and for the recording side as well...i will be interested to hear how well they perform...

7a's or 5a's...when i was younger i played 2b's and 5b'...as i've gotten older i continue to lighten my stick up....i think the drums sounds better and its whole lot easier on your cymbals and heads ;) if your stores ONLY carry 1a-2b, that is a very limited selection...might better get online...

use your ear...tune to your liking...like is said above, it just helped give me confidence that is was doing the right thing.

so far so good...i a/b'd the heck out of 'em...ended up coming back to the b8's...(got em for 299 too)...i think they have a fairly flat response compared to some in that price range, but (if you read enough and mix enough) you'll have to learn how their sounds translate to your typical hifi...

is that all you have in there??? :D come on!!! i think you can get at least a 5 piece drum kit in there too :eek:

i figured that it was basically a combination of things...the things that drives me a bit silly is that when tuning i get a sound i like on a tom and that particular sound resonanates the crap out of my snare...so then you play the tuning game to get the resonance out, etc., etc.. i figured...

gotcha! yeah i know the feeling...i'm not a huge electronics tinkerer, but every band i've ever been in i've set the majority of the pa...sucks to be the drummer (which always has the most equip) and the person that does the most loading/unloading/setup of pa too! labor of love i...

i actually understand phase cancelation very clearly (i'm a former structual engineer--emphasizing in str dynamics). just did understand from a mic/electronics perspective...in theory (like it was aluded to) the situation has to be 'perfect'...had not dawned on me that it might 'muddy' because...

colossus, are you close micing your toms? (even though your not close micing your snare...)???
