that kick is tiny!!!
when mapex FIRST came out, they got terrible reviews in Drum! and Modern Drummer. their original shell construction was shoddy and the finishes half-assed. i don't remember when that was, though. the company is 15 years old, so... 1990 was their first year? your kit was...
i like 'em!!! the pre-EQ makes it very punchy, for modern rock and stuff like that. i'm meaning to try it on bass cabs, and using it on a floor tom sounds like a good idea!
do any of you have some good reviews/links to reviews on the firepod and firebox? i can't remember the 8mic-in one, but that's the one i'm interested in.
i have the low end superlux's... they're actually suprisingly good o.o the overheads aren't great, but the kick picks up a lot of punch (great in my 18" bass) and the tom mics aren't *too* big. Get some CAD drum clips for the tom mics, they work great. I've got an sm57 on snare and my kit sounds...
although "My" sound i get with the behringer, i like the quality and design of the pod much more, so i vote pod.
that being said, i will someday soon on the rackmount version of the behringer.
i'm looking into firewire interfaces with as many imputs as i can manage to find (tho i'm more focused on good quality than number of imputs)... so far i've seen the Firebox and the MOTU 896. I'm curious on your guys' oppinions on these interfaces, or if you all have any recommendations?
as far as the ringo comments, the reason he was with the beatles was not because he was exceptionally good but rather because he is lefthanded on a righty kit, which was a "New Look" to go with the new sound. (i.e. he always plays openhanded) (i am this way too, it's easy :))
i agree with the...
what am i looking for then? i'm pretty sure there's no 12-chan pci cards (unless i get two... hey can i do that?) and all these firewire/USB interface thingies with mixers only have 8 channels so i'm not sure what to do now!
i've got a copy of Audition on the way, maybe i'll figure out how to use it.
Pardon my noobess but how exactly does one hook up the inputs of one of these Delta 1010's and the like? (i know how to hook it up in the pc but the chan inputs or whatever? how do i get ten outta them?)
i'm not a fan...
if you wanted pics of the space we play in...
that's the room. pardon my drumset not being together. the mixer and such is on the right, the stereo is behind it. the pa speakers/amps and stuff aren't there either.

that's my board, got...
errh, back on topic, one time i just had our band recorder on during a practice and my guitarist's wireless started picking up some really strange stuff, it had this kind of... downward pitch bend that sounded like it was on a delay effect (his amp was on clean and dry) that would gradually...
Alright well i'm the drummer/light/sound guy in my 5-piece band and we're seriously contemplating doing some self-recording before we hit the studios. We have a lot of the equipment ready and we've done some sample work before but i'm looking to up the anti and make something that sounds better...
don't mean to double post and all that jazz, but here's a recording of a song pre-stereo-style recording. http://inkinc.kirkwarez.com/ant/music/KennysSong.mp3 (about a minute long)
i did two takes, both were done in mono. 1st take was the chord part, 2nd take was the "solo" kenny had asked me...
this is soooo cool! alright well the way i have the mixer-to-pc thing right now is in stereo... rca's of the "tape out" of the mixer to the "line in" on the soundcard... works just fine. last night i was just messing around with recording, i was really wishing audacity would record in stereo...
