    Mix/master rock song, any ideas?

    thanks everyone for the input, I realize now that it was totally destroyed in the 'mastering' process.... what do you guys reccomend for getting a competitive volume level without squashing it? I've got the timeworks mastering plugins and the waves gold bundle. also Har-bal, and T-rax.

    B-52 AT212 amps

    i had a guy in my studio with a b-52 half stack, I thought it would be just a cheap-o amp... but the tones he got out of it blew me away! It sounded great, great live, records really well too. his was stock with the cheap-o tubes in it too.

    i actually dont have much trouble with boomy basses, but I am planning on adding a lot of treatment, I just barely moved into the space, you can see from the pics there still no trim around the doors or windows or the baseboards...     The costs to build a studio....

    you could do it for maybe $500 if you already have an ok computer and an old mattress, and a closet you dont use... or you could do it a lot better for $5,000 or you could do a fairly professional job for $50,000....

    also, the layout was partially determined by the huge vertical support beams, and HVAC locations, since it is a basement. thats why the mixing room has to cut into the live room so much, there's a big beam inside that angled corner.

    oh, and we have been dry sanding with those 3m blocks, it works ok, 2nd coat of mud helped a lot... and we're using this behr paint with texture in it to save the step of texturing before painting. so far its working out pretty well.
