How to listen to track being recorded

I do! (my card is SB Live or something but nothing special or expensive) And everything you said is answer for hundreds of guys who keep asking about this particular problem. I think I had same sound card (A97) on my old PC but I'm not quite sure. It is important to choose line in on recording...

    Vocal Cut resulting in mono

Vocal Remover that works Hello again! There are a lot of "musicians" today who keep asking about vocal removing software. Many of them use midi files and pretend like they are playing their expensive keyboards singing along. We know for sure midi files are never going to sound like real...

    Vocal Cut resulting in mono

Why would anyone remove vokal from the mix? Why did they mix them down in the first place? :p Happy New Year to everyone!

Is cool edit pro really that cool

Why do you convert mp3’s to WAV’s? Or when you do this? I do it as well but only when I have to. (When some DVD software wouldn't accept mp3) Is it possible to get better quality from an mp3 in that way? I thought, once the file is compressed most of its components is gone for good. I would...

    "mastering" tips

Thank you guys! I have to admit this thread was very useful to me. I don’t now how many of you write songs and play all instruments while recording at home. I understand that engineers who do recording, mixing and mastering for someone else have a little different approaching angle to this...

    "mastering" tips

Q for Blue Bear and others from Pro League Hello! I suppose you (Blue Bear) do this stuff professionally. Do you really use Cool Edit (Adobe Audition)? If answer is YES - in which grade and what kind music (bands). If answer is NO- which software do you use? Where is Adobe Audition in scale...

New to Cool Edit, can't get enough volume

Sound Card I don't thing you should NOT do any amplifying in Cool Edit. You need to check your sound card settings. There should be many faders there and depends of your card. Mic.; Midi; Line in etc. I think you should turn your "Line in" fader up. (Try to find the best position to adjust...

    M1 T3

Korg Thanks guys. I need some extra sound behind my guitar based songs. No need for drum section and arrangement sections built in. Only nice sounds like Hammond, piano, strings etc. Maybe sax-sound too. I had several synths and keyboards but now never found the one for me. It seems to me...

    M1 T3

I asked stupid Q here before because I don't know anything about non-strings instruments. What is difference between KORG M1, KORG T3 and KORG EX-T3? Which is (was) best and most expensive?

    Yamaha Dx7

Two more unknown for me! What about KORG X5D (500$) and KORG 01 7 Wfd (350$) I can spend 1000$ but as I said I am guitar player and don't know much about keyboards and synths.

    Yamaha Dx7

Thank you guys Thank you guys! No one voted for DX7. That means: I’ll pass it. It was really cheep (200 $) and I thought: let me just have it. Then I started to think: It’s going to collect dust somewhere on my closet together with other old instruments. Maybe I should sell everything old and...

    Yamaha Dx7

I am about to buy YAMAHA DX7 but I am afraid this one is too old and is not worth using. I’m guitar player and I do not use keyboards much. I would like to have it for some songs but I don’t want use too much money. Should I buy it or just pass it?

    unwanted fade in

Try to record your guitar while your windows mixer is on the top of screen. It happens that sound card controls signal in automaticly and does not allow it to be to high and fade it down after first too loud signal. I saw this happened on some other software but it was controling microphone...

    Noise Removal - Stereo Mic'ing

One by one Would it help to separate noise reduction by channels? Do same method like dobro tells you but first for one channel by highlighting only right side of the track. And after that you do the same for left channel. I was thinking that the noise was exact the same on both canals and...

    rusty strings

New strings! I hate them! I hate the sound of new strings especially on acc-guitar. Just kill me but I hate this metal sound. They sound nice first after a couple of days or, let me see , after 4-6 playing hours.

    Tuning a bass

Me too! I was just not brave enough to say it first. I don't know why I do it that way especially when only harmonica I've got is "G"-harmonica. The biggest irony is that I can't play harmonica. Anyway I never use those tuning machines.
