    wave data

i just put a 100gig hard drive into my computer, and i only have, from what SONAR says, 10% of my space left. i have 85gigs free on the hard drive. i've made numerous wave data folders.....does SONAR only allow so much space? and can that be changed?

    VSTi-adaptor

hey, i found a vst vocoder plug-in, and i run SONAR. the place i found it says you need a VSTi-adaptor, probably to run vst effects through direct x or wahtever. but does anyone know where to find this 'adaptor'? thanks

    Big Problems! help

its the same on every channel. the mic requires 48v, its a large diaphram condenser. i've tried wiggling the cables, but it doesn't work. what happens is that the mic works for a few seconds, then, over on the meter bridge it stays around -10db's, and jumps up to around -4 or so every second...

    Big Problems! help

hi. i have a mackie 1402vlzPro and a cad m39 that aren't working well together. everytime i turn on the mixer with phantom power, the mic works for a few seconds, then the power seems to die from it. and the mic barely works. i've tried numerous cables, even my blue cable isn't working. any...

    Alesis PEQ-450

has anyone used one of these??? they seem like they might be a good buy, but i've only read the press release from alesis. its a dual channel 5 band parametric EQ. Digital, but with analog controls. They also just put out a compressor/limiter at the same prcie ($350). Anyone else interested?

    Designing CD Covers

if you're going to be having your cd pressed, check with the place its being made. if you have a MAC - use Quark. PC - photoshop - .tif files.......or some places will take pagemaker.

    Tube Pre -or- Compressor

Right now i have a mackie 1402vlzPro, a CAD M39, and 4 sm57's. i'm looking for a warmer sound, but also a more refined one. would a tube preamp benefit me more than a compressor? i'm running into Cakewalk's SONAR, and that has compressors, but it only compresses the final signal of all the...

    Monster cable vs Rapco?

elle, i'd go with the b.l.u.e. cable. its made for the studio, so it won't give you any hiss or unwanted noise that might come from a cheaper cable. the blueberry is the lowest model in their line of cables, so if you're looking for more than just low noise, you can still spend less than you...

    Monster cable vs Rapco?

well, i like the b.l.u.e. mic cables. the blueberry is around $30 i think, and is really quiet, and a pretty strong cable, if you're going to be gigging and need your own cables.

    Av-jefe Drum Mics?

here's what i'd do : 1 57 for the snare 2 CAD M39's for overheads (work great!) 1 D112 for the kick then when you get more money you can start close mic'ing the toms and whatnot. but keeping it simple is usually the best approach, and i've had the best luck with these mics.

    ugly sounding toms, need help

This post might be over, but i'll still throw in my thoughts. definetly get new heads. if you are looking to get rid of some of the ring of your drums, i'd suggest a remo powerstroke3 clear on top, and a clear remo ambassador on bottom. tuning the bottom head higher than the top head will...

    Slotted Snare!

hey, i just got my maple 6x13 Tama snare slotted. there's a guy who lives by me who worked for orange county drums for 11 years. he's made drums for no doubt and foo fighters. my snare was single lugged, so we cut between the screws, sanded it down, and did a 60degree 2 ply sharp bearing edge...

    combo to power speaker cab?

hey, i was talking to a friend at school, and he said that a 65watt Fender could power a marshall cab, and that he's done it before. i have 2 fender princeton 112plus's, but they dont have a speaker out on them. i really need a half stack now that i'm playing bigger venues, but i'm on a tight...

Anyone see that Weezer used all POD Pro's on SNL?

ok, here's my comment. the new weezer album is a good come back album for them...though it is rather disappointing. the song writing on Pinkerton is much better than the first album, and takes a while to grow on you. It was also self produced, so they had alot more freedom, now with this...

    Not Loud Enough! - ???

that doesn't. i thought you meant that just compression would make it louder. i don't have an outboard compressor, could i compress on the computer, then run the compressed signal out to my mackie, do some slight eq, then record it again? or is that no a good idea? thanks! - michael

    Not Loud Enough! - ???

I rarely use compression on the computer. or are you saying compression will make it louder...cuz that seems a bit contradictory. thanks? - michael

    Not Loud Enough! - ???

hey, i'm using SONAR, though i had the same problem with pro audio 9. i'd have the drum levels on my mackie up to just under clipping, and just under 0db in the computer, but the tracks wouldn't be as loud as mp3's that'd i'd made from cd's or from napster. i normalize too. anyone else have...

    Which would be better?

i already have 4 57's.....and i mic my kick with this old TEAC small diaphragm mic. i think i'll use that on the kick, and another 57 on the kick. then i'll throw up the v67, raising the other 3 57's on the snare, and the two toms. does that sound like a good plan? then i'll get the kick mic...
