The DMT8 Is a good recorder..The good thing about it is the recoder section is easy to use ! And the mixer section is very simple to operate{no menues to scroll thru } The board is not that great ...But you can always get a better board later ...Man I'm starting to rammble LOL..Basicly it works...

That sock thing you talked about is interesting ...Also one thing thats cool is to take a empty papertowel role and tape it to the end of the mic. The reflections that happen inside the tube cause a interesting effect { kinda like a shotgun mic with a serius midrange bump}

Are you used to hearing the POD thru headphones? And now you are hearing it on speakers, so now there appears to be no depth to the sound?...just a thought,maybe thats your prob.

The E 100 is also a very sensitive mic..You are not going to hear that much if any drop off in sensitivity between the two mics...for 80 bucks I'd grab the E 100...

The days of the dat machine are almost over {and i've got one too}Mastering houses are useing CDRs now for there portable medium...So if it were now ,I wouldn't invest in one .Your clients probobly like to get a playable medium also .Thats just my opinion though .
