Question about sampling down when rendering

I'm using Reaper. Maybe I'll post that specific question there. It would be nice if it was automatically up-sampled.

Question about sampling down when rendering

    That can be done?

Question about sampling down when rendering

I have a tracks recorded at 96kHz, with one part I had to use which was recorded at 44.1kHz. When I render the whole thing at 44.1kHz, what happens to the part recorded at 44.1kHz? Does the program render it at 44.1 or 22kHz?

Do stacked plugins with their mix knobs set to zero impact the sound?

I can't deactivate them because at points in the song they're turned on using automation, which is what prompted my question.

Do stacked plugins with their mix knobs set to zero impact the sound?

Say one had a guitar track and then loaded up 10 plugins. In theory, would there be any degradation of sound because the signal has to pass through many plugins even if all plugin mix knobs are set to zero such that the effect is on but not doing anything?

Compression on drums from programs like Addictive drums and EZ drummer?

By the way, the material is heavy rock, if that makes any difference.

Compression on drums from programs like Addictive drums and EZ drummer?

Hmmm... As someone one step up from novice at recording I was under the impression that drums always get compressed, but I'm not bothered by being wrong.

Compression on drums from programs like Addictive drums and EZ drummer?

I have Addictive drums (1.0) and I like the sounds, however, I'm uncertain about how to treat them in a mix. If one were recording real drums, one would obviously use compression on them, but I haven't been able to find an answer as to how one should treat drum programs and whether the samples...

Horrible noise in my guitar signal, no one on the internet seems to know why

I'd wager it's the blue tooth in your phone, or some other wireless device being picked up by the computer. I've experienced similar sounds when I had a cell phone or even a cordless phone (when the line is open) near the computer. Remove everything from around the computer that is wireless.

    Thoughts on Soundcloud Next Pro?

I have been an unpaid member of Soundcloud for a while. They have a special on their paid Next Pro level that has features like song distribution, advanced fan insights, etc. Any thoughts on Soundcloud Next Pro?

What can a stereo control plugin do that functions in a DAW can't?

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any thoughts about the quality of various stereo imaging plugins? The A1 seems to work and sound just fine, but I have nothing to compare it to.

What can a stereo control plugin do that functions in a DAW can't?

I have the Alex Hilton A1 Stereo control plugin. I'm trying to understand precisely what a stereo control plugin like the A1 can do that one can't using pan controls in a SAW. I know there's other features in most stereo control plugins, but I'm only thinking about the stereo imaging aspect. I...

    Mastering without compression?

I appreciate all the replies, but this is what I'm really trying to understand, whether a mastering plugin can raise levels sufficiently without any use of compression.

    Mastering without compression?

As a virtual novice, I've always been under the impression that compression/limiting was absolutely necessary during mastering, that it was the actual means for increasing audio levels from the mix, but I'm not sure this was ever the right way of looking at it. Am I correct that it's possible to...

What would be a good general starting point for compression on a recording of the spoken word or singing at speech level?

Manley SLAM! A question about application

I have an opportunity to acquire a Manley SLAM! via trade. It would be well out of my budget otherwise, but in any event, I understand the SLAM comes in two versions one being the mastering version, without preamps, and with extra compression ratio settings. The one I might acquire is the...

Are there any generalities regarding attack and release times on comp/limiting hard rock?

O.k. Thanks for the replies. As a novice, I have mastered in the box with what I think are acceptable results, all things considered, mostly by tweaking variables (without really understanding them entirely) until I was satisfied with the sound. Still interested in understanding the process a...

Are there any generalities regarding attack and release times on comp/limiting hard rock?

Thanks for the replies. So far I only have a guitar track, well overdriven, with moderate compression, and peaks of -8.5dB. I'll be putting bass and drums over it later. I'd be trying to achieve a punchy sound at the mastering stage.

Are there any generalities regarding attack and release times on comp/limiting hard rock?

Are there any generalities regarding attack and release times on comp/limiting hard rock? There seems to four primary settings, fast attack/fast release, fast attack/slow release, slow attack, fast release, and slow attack/slow release. If one had to clutch at one of these categories for guitar...
