    MPC 500 vs Maschine?

Note the cables running from the back of the Maschine to underneath the table he's playing it on :)

At what point do you start (or stop) making the band sound better than they are?

If you take two identical performances, shitty or not, and one sounds better...that person would be better at recording.

    MPC 500 vs Maschine?

In my humble opinion, Maschine is the future. They had one set up to test in my local music store a while ago, I think it was when Komplete 8 had come out. I was lucky the store wasn't busy that day because I was having so much fun playing around with it, I can't imagine how great it would be to...

Anyone Using EZ Mix in Reaper?

Collection of effects with corresponding presets to mix various instruments. OP, I haven't used it but I can't imagine it would replace all the compressors and EQs that I've grown to love in my DAW

    Covers on Youtube

Lmao, how do you think they make music videos? He IS lip syncing. His videos aren't that great, far far from amazing...anybody with a decent camcorder or digital SLR could do the same. Kid's got a nice voice but needs to develop a bit of his own style I think. I don't know why you'd like him but...

    Is this audition quality singing?

Really, really think about your audition piece. You have a nice voice but neither of those songs is really showcasing it. You go flat quite a bit in "I Surrender" and "The Way I Am" is a nice song, and you sing it nicely, but for a vocal audition I don't really think it'll be up to snuff.

Budget Cymbal Condenser Mics For Recording???

You've been given great choices to try out, better than I could come up with, but just keep in mind you don't have to use "pencil" condensers for overheads.

    customer files usb or disc?

 The same type of files that can be on a USB can be on a disc. Like somebody else said, just disable Autoplay or simply ask your clients that they bring files on a disc if you're that paranoid about it.

How Many Guitars do you own

In order of acquisition... - Fender Acoustic (cheapo model that came in a beginner pack, I think it's model number DG-3...still use the tuner that came with it after well over a decade!) - Fender MIM Strat (looking to get rid of it, has been plagued with intonation problems) - Traben Chaos...

    First "big" purchase

Fantom X8. Probably the only thing besides my recording PC that was in the 4 figures when I bought it. Felt great, still love it :)

Your interface will be your soundcard, so yes

Choosing an Audio Interface - Narrowed down, but many quirks and worries...

Don't pay too much attention to the software bundled with an interface, it will almost invariably be the "Lite" version. Either you'll like the software (and possibly upgrade to the full version, the reason they bundle software) or you won't like it and you'll try something else. And a quick...

    HELP ....Need some advice

I'd just wait until you get your EMU interface. Your soundcard is most definitely the weak link in the chain.

    Time Signatures!

Besides 4/4 and 6/8, the only time signature I've found myself in is 5/4.

The kick drums sounds like a snare.

How to get that open, ringy kick drum?

Yeah, definitely get that front head back on the kick, you're doing nothing but deadening your sound by not having it on. The "open, ringy" sound is primarily tuning. You'll probably want a room mic somewhere in there, or even just a second kick mic that's backed off the drum a bit. Technique...

Mic'ing drums in the same room.

Once you get a sound you like, be sure to make notes of mic positioning, drum tuning, etc. No reason to go through the headache everytime.

    Logic v protools

Try Reaper before plunking down the cash for Logic or Pro Tools. You get to try the full version of Reaper before you buy it.

Can't open EZ drummer (lite) in Pro Tools

If you installed the VST, I don't think Pro Tools can recognize it.
