    head relapping - tascam 388

This is sort of a cross post. Sorry. I'm looking at a 388 that apparently needs a head relapped (seller says track 1 started fading in and out). How much would this cost? It's a 1/4" machine.

    Relapping head on a 388

I'm looking at a 388 that apparently needs to have it's head relapped (seller says track 1 started fading in and out). About how much $$$ would this run?

    guitar looping pedals.

Hello. I'm looking for a pedal for guitar looping, and am a little lost so far. I've read about the Boss Loop Station, and have been a little put off by it's lack of quantinization features. But I'd like to get something in a similar price range. Anyone have any thoughts on the Boomerang...

Best way to record a digital Yamaha piano?

I say direct. How many tracks to you have at your disposal? Cuz you could do both and blend. Mic the speaker really far away, add some verb ... that type of thing to give you more of a sound of a piano being played in a room.

    Distortion for Drummachine

My method is a bit more retarded. What I did was loop the bass and snare drum, plugged the machine into an old 80s four track and pushed the reds for that analog distortion sound, and then ran that into a digital 8 track. Then I overdubbed the hi hat/ride/crash hits onto a cleaner track. I...

    drummer timing

If recording the guitar first, I'd at least do some kind of click track. If a metronome isn't available, you can use a beat from a cheap casio keyboard. It's not like anyone's gonna hear it, you just need something keeping down the constant 4/4 (or whatever) time that you can erase later...

    recording acoustic guitar

What's wrong with hearing the pick hit the pickguard? I think it makes it sound real. A condensor mic might not eliminate pick noise, but it will make a huuuuge difference in your acoustic sound. The 603s are cool. You should also check out what Oktava has to offer.

Wat Mic Is Best For Acoustic Guitar>> Under 100 ?

    Oktava 219 is pretty happening.

    best mic for the buck

All you need to start recording is a 57. Awesome for miking an amp. If you want to take it up a notch, Oktava 219s rule for vocals and acoustic guitars.

Is having a good mic all you need?

I think a good singer is the most important thing. There's tons of budget condensor mics out there in the $100-200 dollar range with a bang to buck ratio that's through the roof. I dig Oktavas. I don't think a 57 is capable of sounding bad.

    Most overpaid and underskilled guitarists....

It's just that people were told that they were blues-ey, so they think they have to appreciate it or something. You can take a turd and call it blues, but it doesn't mean it's good. As far as anyone being underskilled - I think it says a lot when a guitar player does what's best for a song and...

    More e-bait bullshit!!!!!!

Yup. Don't forget, the market is opened up to the whole world, not just the Guitar Center customers in whatever city. Don't forget about shipping either. That guitar might be just under list, but then you factor in that $20-50 shipping charge and yikes! Ebay sellers get to charge not just...

    Best Cymbal Sound

dirty sacks I keep the overheads down real low. Like most people, I do drums first, and the problem is when you start adding guitars the sound of the tubs change, and I tend to start losing the snare before anything else. So I generally keep the snare up real loud (four that White Album...

Favorite Acoustic Guitar mic positions / techniques

acoustic miking I usually just put on the headphones and move the mic around until I like the sound. My main acoustic mic is an Oktava 219 (highly underrated). For something extra I put whatever else I have lying around on the neck. Not too insightful, but ...

    br-8 to zip????

That zip space sure is a b1tch. But if you're not PC inclined, don't forget to go in and delete your empty tracks after a bounce. Optimize the song, and you'll get the time back for those tracks, although you probably already knew that. Has anyone tried 200mb zips on the BR-8. Does it give...

    drum advice for 8-track

I've been looking for some advice on mono drums (or whether to do them at all). Here's my question. I've been recording for a while, but have avoided drums for the most part because a lot of the home recorded drums I've heard tend to sound really compressed (not sure if that's the right word)...

    Good way to record Snare

snare Try miking underneath the snare drum. Might not be the exact effect you're going for, but very cool.
