Wait . . . how do you use a mic backwards?

    MXL R144 - Ribbon Mic

Two recommendations if you want to use these on vocals: (1) You'll probably need more gain, so get a FetHead or Cloud Lifter. And (2) look into the various mods for the r144 and r40. At the very least you should check your ribbon tension and pull out the inner headbasket grille. Long-term I...

Blue Yeti Microphone & Adobe Audition issue.

Did you mess with the gain on the back of the Yeti? Or the recording pattern knob?

Upgrading to a new Mic, not sure what to get? (condenser mic for vocals)

I'm going to second this. At the $100 price point, "most" dynamics are going to blow "most" condensers away. You can pick up an interface for around $100 as well if you need only 1 input.

    Electro-Voice ND767A for Home/Studio Recording?

I added a Fethead to mine it and it has responded extremely well.

    Electro-Voice ND767A for Home/Studio Recording?

Sweet spot for me was with about 2 and a half inches between my mouth and the EV's capsule (popfilter inserted in the gap). Very crisp lows, not too much proximity. If I ever got that close to my P220, I'm pretty sure it would explode.

    Electro-Voice ND767A for Home/Studio Recording?

Been running this mic (the EV) through the paces this evening and I quite like what I'm hearing. Only downfall is that you need good technique. Gotta find the right place for your voice and stay there. Less forgiving than an LDC.

    Electro-Voice ND767A for Home/Studio Recording?

Anyone use one of these for recording? I know 767s are generally used live, but with the price a certain music retailer is offering them for, I'm considering picking up a couple for home. The super cardioid pattern might come in handy in less than ideal recording environments. Thanks!

    AT2035 vs AKG p220

Are you using the low-cut filter with it? I've had mine for a couple days now and I like the tone but, man, does it boost the lows.

Microphone with HPF vs Applying EQ later

Appreciate it, gentlemen! I'll start treating them like they were any other high-pass EQ. I've got a couple in my arsenal that I rather like the sound of, but the compare/contrast game is always a good way to kill an hour :)

Microphone with HPF vs Applying EQ later

This might be a stupid question but . . . is there anything special about the high-pass filters some mics come with? Why not just EQ the signal in your DAW?

    AT2035 vs AKG p220

Ha! Glad to have provoked your second post :) I'm about to choose between the AKG P220 and AT2035 myself, so if anyone stumbles into this thread, feel free to offer your two cents. Will mostly be used to record vocals, acoustic guitar, and voice-overs.

    AT2035 vs AKG p220

Jagster, considering that was your first and only post, I suspect you may never be heard from again. But just in case . . . which did you end up choosing?
