    Learning to Record Vocals

I always have the vocals dry, when I do the editing and deciding on takes or parts. Once I have a whole track I start adding effects.

    Is this audition autotuned?

Hi, I worked on vocals and also Melodyne so much that I would call myself an expert on this software. On both of your tracks I didn't hear anything that sounds significantly like pitch correcting. For sure it's not auto-tuned, because that would sound totally different. I mean it's...

How to remake A song for practice

I don't totally understand your question. What song are you talking about and which sounds do you have a problem with?

    All Land is One Land

I would work on the chorus. I don't like the melody a lot there and the energy is too similar to the verse.

    Synth sound

Hi guys, Does anybody know what synth sound this is at the beginning (the chords)? I would also be interested in the bass sound that comes in later and the hi-hat sound at the beginning. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5PFNsafFWw I am looking for this sound a long time and I would really...

    "Stay"

I don't like the snare a lot, but the rest sounds good. I don't know if I have a problem with the bass guitar. It sounds good to me.

    Ready to go - Mix

With vocal break you mean the part with the vocals that's between the synth parts? Also, how would you suggest to make the synth sound more stereo? Yes, it's pretty mono at the moment, except for a little bit of reverb maybe that's on the master bus.

    Ready to go - Mix

Thanks a lot for the feedback, I will take care of those things. Do you think I should tame the bass with an EQ or just turn it down?

    Ready to go - Mix

Hello, I am working on this song for a long time and finally finished the mix now myself. The song is a mixture between EDM and Rock, but listen to it yourself: https://soundcloud.com/simonfanta/ready-to-go I am looking forward to your feedback. Thanks, Simon

Standing on the Corner in the Rain

I would edit the backing vocals better to line them up with the lead vocals.

I don't like the snare, but maybe it's just my taste...

    Death Letter, Delta Blues

I think the song itself doesn't add anything new to the world of music. To me it sounds like something people 80 years ago would have probably done better. So I wouldn't try to market a song like this. For the mix: You could try to cut out heights and lows to make it sound like an old...

    V.i.p.

Good point, but there's one thing that's problematic when you're doing the recording, production and the mixing as well: You're not neutral to the song any more. Actually you may have listened to it and worked on it for months or even years. Giving the song away can have the advantage that...

help needed. How can I get my singing better?

Hello, I am a vocalist and my first advice would be to sing as much as you can. Sing along with your favorite songs, sing in the car, sing in the shower. Then additionally to that you can practice things like scales, harmonies and intervals. Depending on how much effort and time you want to...

    V.i.p.

Thanks for your feedback. I should be able to take care of the low mids, vocals and bass problem, althouth I am not the most experienced person when it comes to mixing. I am thinking about hiring a mixing engineer for this, but I don’t know if the song is worth the investment – so feel free to...

What is my audience? (is there an audience for this?)

My advice for you would be to go on sites like "audiokite" or "reverb nation", also "we make music". For a couple of dollars you will get feedback from people outside the music world - sometimes that's useful in order to find out who, or if anybody likes a song.

    Molly's Lips (Nirvana/The Vaselines' Cover)

I wouldn't make the guitar more heavy but the vocals a little bit louder.

    V.i.p.

Hi guys, I am really curious what you think about my latest mix. All recorded and mixed in my home-studio. The song is pop with some hip hop influences, but listen for yourself: https://soundcloud.com/simonfanta/vip I am looking forward to any feedback and suggestions for the song as...
