if you have two digital devices that you want to use together, you have to have a way to synchronize the two clocks (that are managing the sample rate of the signal), or they will drift apart and you'll likely get some pops and crackles and other nasties. s/pdif is one interface that will allow...
cool, thanks. that's not too bad, especially compared with what i've been seeing elsewhere.
when i see boxes like this for $80 i feel like i should just buy an old broken amp or something and gut it for the case.
Does anyone know where I could find a cheap sheet metal rackmountable box? (like a rack drawer stuck shut) I have some custom electronics that I'm looking to mount. Ideal size would be 2U, ~8" deep.
I found a couple of places willing to sell me boxes like this, but I refuse to pay $80 for...
hooking them up is simple. i'd just get a router/hub like this:

It sits in between your cable modem and your computers, each of which needs a LAN card.
All of your...
barefoot, would something like the following work as a basic mono switch? i don't want to switch to a single center speaker, just to have the option for both speakers to output the sum of the left and right channels.
also, what does the 16R resistor accomplish in the post-amplifier summing...
phantom power is just a DC voltage. it does not change the gain on a channel, and will have zero effect on your 57 as long as you are using a balanced XLR cable.
you're sleeping.
TRS = tip, ring, sleeve
TS = tip, sleeve
your instrument cable is a TS cable, not a TRS. a TRS looks like a 1/4" stereo headphone plug.
unfortunately i don't think you can add another card. since the 44 doesn't have SPDIF, you don't have a way to synchronize the clocks in the two cards. so as you record, they will slowly drift apart. that is, if they work at all. but maybe someone else knows a way.
haha!!!
i bought a cheap knockoff cable once that was marked "Multi SuperTwist" construction. it was supposedly a Rock cable, but i tried it, and all the Rock clarity and imaging was gone. i can't say i have golden ears, but i didn't hear any audio bandwidth distortion while i was playing a few...
I'm thinking about going into business making dining room tables. I've got a circular saw, a hammer, some wood glue, a protractor, and a level. Oh, and a couple good trees in my backyard to use.
How much can i charge?
:D
you want bullshit? these claims are from from Monster Cable's website:
