So my band's had a CD out since September, we've been playing shows, selling copies, amassing a decent library of press photos, video, and so forth. Now all we need are some album reviews, positive or negative. Where do I even start with this? Magazines? Non-maga-zines? Any tips on how I can get...
So, I should probably know this, but I'm no live sound expert so I'll ask here to confirm. I'm planning on buying a live mixer for my band (Mackie CFX12) with insert jacks. If I buy a bunch of cables, can I use the mixer onstage to control my band's monitor mixes, then send the signal through...
So I'm trying to raise up some cash to get a CD pressed, and coincidentally have some gear lying around that I don't use anymore. Everyone's a winner!! I prefer Paypal for payment.. prices do not include shipping... I'm located in Newfoundland, Canada, I can get a quick rough quote for anyone...
I'm not too hyped on mine.. they're the original 20/20s paired with a Hafler TA1600 power amp.. I find them so harsh they're almost unlistenable.. anyone else have this same problem?
I've never read Guitar Player, but from what I remember of Guitar One it was pretty trashy at times, with horribly inaccurate tablature. It also never ever ever gives a bad product review, ever. Considering the amount of crap gear on the market, I wouldn't mind actually reading an unbiased...
Hi guys,
For some reason the tweeter on one of my Event 20/20s has been nonfunctional for a while. I'm looking to put it a new one, and a search through eBay and emails to Event have been no help. If anyone has a tweeter or even a single monitor to sell, please drop me a PM or reply to this...
Speaking as a DMP3/Delta 1010 user I wouldn't recommend it at all for bass or guitar DI... maybe a combination of a D112 and direct for bass, and just mic a guitar amp. Should be great for everything else though.
I own a V67G, it was my first condensor and I've been using it for quite a while now. I don't really like how the tracks recorded with it seem to "disappear" when put in the mix.. vocals especially. It's ok on acoustic guitar though, and I actually really like it on kick when placed a fair...
Personally I've had no problems recording with a DS-1.... I try not to use pedals when I'm recording for simplicity's sake (I add delay/chorus/reverb later and most of my distortion tone comes from the amp) but the few times I have used pedals they've come out sounding pretty good.
Personally I have a 30 watt Valvetronix.. it sounds really good, is easy to record, and if I'm playing live I just mic the thing and run it through the PA anyways.
I bought 6 plastic dynamic mics with included XLR-to-1/4" cables for 99 cents each at my local Buck or Two store. No joke. Yes, they sound absolutely horrible.. but who can go wrong at that price? At the very very least, I could stick one inside a bass drum and use Drumagog to replace the...
Can't vouch for the POD, but I've got an AD30VT and it is an amazing amp, sounds awesome and the effects are top-notch and very tweakable. It's not overly loud, but if you played live and mic'ed it you'd be happy I think.
I just went out and bought a couple of Profile boom-style stands today for 37 dollars Canadian each, tax and all. They're really solid-looking and seem to work ok thus far.. time will tell I suppose.
I've got Dunlops on my Les Paul, love em. I'd still like to add that they arent 100% bulletproof.. the screw can still come out if you're all wild and crazy about it.. but hey, in 99.999% of performance situations you'll be just fine.
And if not...
Duct Tape.
I was sitting on my computer listening to some music the other day when I noticed my monitors sounded a little different. Sure enough, one of the high frequency drivers on my 20/20s are shot. :( They're not covered under warranty anymore.. anyone know where I can get replacement parts and such...

Ok, so I finally got myself a Delta 1010 so it's time to start selling off the remnants of an earlier, simpler time in my recording life. :) Up on the block is:
(1) Zoom MRS-1044: This DAW has been happily used for about 2 years. It has moderate cosmetic damage and the AC adapter connector is a...
