ok, think i figured out the meter. 0 represents the strenth of the original signal, if i boost the gain the meter will rise above this showing that whats coming out is stronger than the original signal. if i pull the fader down, negative dbs represent that the output signal is weaker than the...

im pushing the meter(which i am struggling to understand also) only about halfway. yep, dont understand how it is that there are negative Db marked that can be heard. but reading the manual told me to set the gain to where it popped up to just the beginning of the yellow on the digital meter...

no i wasnt trying to get the electric sound, was just experimenting with using the mike to record through the speaker. i do have an interface and i have plugged directly into it, does sound better that way. just wondering if i really needed to spend 100 bux on a mic just to record guitar now...

i cant get the volume i want out of just miking the guitar itself. pushing the channel fader all the way up only brings the signal level up about a third of the way.

the mike was pointed directly into the cone almost kissing the cloth. the combo is a fender g-dec. was just experimenting with new equipment and trying to learn the art.

im recording a fender accoustic that has a pickup thru a sm57 close miked to the amp. my rhythm track sounds like im using a sheet of sandpaper across the strings as a pick. what am i doing wrong?

thanks crow, its just hard to explain anything when i dont know jack, if you know what i mean. i was led to believe thru a book i am trying to learn from that you needed to run every instrument into a separate track in the 14:2 for mix down later.
