Now, I'll agree that most can perceive a 15 millisecond delay. That's a delay of 15 thousandths of a second. But in 15/1000 of a second, you have about 660 samples (at 44.1k sampling rate). So the whole logic of Silent Sound's argument goes out the window. Do the math!

Hey, I have tried Cakewalk and hate it. Can you explain to me whether I should try VDOP? What is it capable of? Just to give you some contrast, I think Sound Forge 4.5 is great --- but the whole layout and command structure of Cakewalk seems bizarre and unnatural.

You can certainly do each of the things you describe, although the Dual MP is capable of lots of gain (so you may have to go easy if you are using it after another pre-amp). It's just a matter of using the right patch cords and experimenting to see what sounds good to you.

Can you tell me what features are on the DMT-8, as opposed to the 8vl? The 8vl is pretty simple really, with only a bare bones mixer and only 2 A/D converters. I like the uncompressed 16-bit/44k recording, although I wished I could record to 8 tracks simultaneously.

I was wondering "cwillu", can you give me more details? Do you own the MC-50 (either mark 1 or mark 2)? Have you recorded in slave mode? You may be right --- I'm just wanting to know whether you really are sure about this or whether you're just guessing based on other equipment (?).
