I like my Collings D2H. I've had it about six years. It has the Waverly tuners( I think they're standard now) and it stays in tune real well. I had Carl McIntyre put in one of his transducer pickups in it when I bought it. It has a nice sound for live, but needs some level boost.

The question is 'How come?' What is there about the obviously low-cost mikes and electronics in the boom box that results in such (comparatively) decent recording? I've heard others say the same thing.
