Hi all, it's been 12 years since I last posted but I haven't forgotten the great feedback I got here all those years ago. 67 now but having written over 60 books I've decided to give that up to perfect the craft of songwriting, now aided and abetted by my 11 year-old daughter. Recently dug out...
Excuse my ignorance, but does anyone know any way of taking wav files off a PC and putting them onto an MR8? I've always done it by making a CD and recording off that, but I'm sure there's a better way.
It's completely true. The Hoff bade me write him a soft rock classic which he could take to no 1 in Germany. You can hear the result at http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=518272&songID=4785505
Comments welcome, but please, no hero worship. I'm just an ordinary guy touched by our...
I've compiled an album, Closure, now available at www.soundclick.com/jonblake, very well received so far, all made on an MR8 with fairly inexpensive equipment. Be interested in views on this - I've learnt a lot as I've gone along how to get the most out of this great little box, but always...
Hi all
Been off these threads for a while - but I started putting stuff up here a couple of years ago, and largely as a result of reviews and advice I got here, persevered with a bunch of songs I wrote after a 20 year lay-off, got a no2 in the Soundclick charts and a lot of attention, as a...
Hi all
I've just put up a new website (with help from Waldo from NWR) with lots of free downloadable songs (mainly for kids but a few for adults), and welcome any opinions. It's at www.nboyd.net.
Many thanks
Jon
I'd appreciate any comments (production and/or songs) on a couple of songs I've recorded (Fostex MR8) for a projected 5-8s children's musical. They're at http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/?aid=3180/singles.
For some less happy tunes, you can always try my website at www.nboyd.net.
Mario Bango is a Roma youth doing 12 years for defending himself against a nazi skinhead. This is a storytelling song in the 'Hurricane' mould, revamped to a mere eight verses from the original 16. Does it work? Opinions welcome.

Hi - I posted this song about addiction a while ago and had a great response, since when I've redone it and would really welcome comments - what I really want to do is to replace the synth sounds with a cello leading to a string quartet in the chorus bits. Any classical musicians out there?
The...
Mike Stipe was over at my house the other day and I mentioned how much I liked his more autobiographical work. He suggested I do something in a similar vein about my own upbringing in Southampton, England, and together we dashed off the following in approx 2 hours...
I've remixed "The Moment's Gone" (thanks to previous reviews): Fostex MR8, Behringer guitar effects and vocals through a chorus. Views most welcome on song or production and who might actually broadcast this thing.

I've got a (fairly basic) website up at www.nboyd.net, but no traffic yet as I won't start gigging for a while. There are samples of all my tracks on there - anyone want to go there and suggest how I can promote it? Some comments on the website b board would be appreciated.
Thanking you in...
Thanks to all those on this site who have given me such generous (and useful) reviews over the past year - I've now got a CD for sale with samples available at my website www.nboyd.net. If you're visiting, do leave a comment on the bulletin board there, even if it's only fuck off.
Views (or general interest) welcome in 'Free Mario Bango' - story is in the song. Can be found at http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=3180&alid=-1.
More details via my website, www.nboyd.net.
I've got a 36min capacity card and a 12 minute song. Any ideas? The song does have a natural break, and I could record it as two 6min songs - but how do I stitch them together? I have n-track, if that's any good, but have never used it, and need very basic guidance.
Just completed a CD, Closure, and uploaded the title track to nowhere radio: http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=3180&alid=-1. There is a bonus point for naming the REM track I borrowed the military drum beat idea from. All comments welcome as ever. I'll have a website up...
Hi folks - have a new song, End Of The Universe, at http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=3180&alid=-1 If you liked the last one you may well like this one. I value your comments.
I'm not really that arrogant - just want some reviews of my new song, Future Fool, at www.nowhereradio.com/jonlenin/singles (click discography then singles).
Thanking you in anticipation, CJ.
