This is a song my friend wrote that we're recording for our mutual friend's wedding as a present. Here's my first mix and pseudo-master, any and all feedback is appreciated:

Also, if you take a listen to the original from her album, you'll...
Thanks guys, and sorry for that epic parenthesis fail! I didn't get to use it last night, recording time went over on the guitars, but I will be tonight so I'll make the judgement call of if it's a better vocal mic or not.
I did notice the seller's name is lamusic_canada though, so maybe that's why it's 100 dollars more. But wouldn't it be listed as CAD not USD if that was the case?
Just sent message:
"You know this mic sells for 500 just about everywhere, right? I don't appreciate you taking advantage other musicians who don't know any better."
I encourage everyone to do the same.
So I'm borrowing an ST55 from a friend who's looking to sell it to me for 150. I already have two NT1a's that I'm very satisfied with and I feel like I don't really need another mediocre microphone, and the only gap I need to fill microphone wise is a good vocal mic. I like the NT1a on vocals...
While I'm not a super n00b, there is one things about recording that's always perplexed me, and that's phasing, particularly issues of phasing when recording a drumset. I've had a lot of problems in the past with phasing issues on my overheads, and I know that there's rules about how to set them...
There is actually a standard called the General Midi Drum Map (or GMDrum Map) which links specific notes to specific drum sounds. Most conventional drum samplers follow this standard, and it's pretty easy to figure out. Once you play it for a while you'll start to remember where notes are pretty...
I was wondering if anyone had any resources, preferably website, for reading schematics. I'd like to get into a lot more DIY stuff but I often find I'm held back because I don't know what one or two things on a schematic are and I don't know electronics well enough to fill in the gaps. Is there...
I think it's absolutely up to the artist. As producers, it's hard for us to let go of the idea that an artist might have an idea of how music should sound that's different than ours. Even though I personally would like all of my music to be on time to a click track, not all styles of music call...
I'm having a hard time re-assigning my Alphatrack controller. For right now, all I want to do is change the FF and RWD buttons so they do the same as my . and , buttons do (That is Forward and Rewind, rather than Shuttle Forward and Shuttle Rewind). I went into the Controller Assignments to try...
Braden, this is a great question! I still remember when I first found out about mixers and control surfaces :)
The Yamaha N12 is a combination mixer/interface. It will not control your DAW in the manner you're thinking of, but rather is a way to do mixing "outside of the box" in a similar way...
You go into your properties and select audio. Your interface should be listed in a drop down and you can select something else (I think this is primarily for input, but if you select either of the built-ins it should change your output too). If that doesn't work, try loading the Audio Midi Setup...
Man, I have this giant regret that I never went to go see him play or meet him, he wasn't playing too far from me. I saw this amazing documentary on him on PBS and it just warmed my heart to see someone with such an incredible passion for music. He will be greatly missed.
