Whats a GOOD amp for LIVE acoustic guitar / vocals gig?

Ha! Tell me about it! Actually the one you're referring to was my fault. I spliced two drum segments together trying to get a backing for something I wanted for a flash intro and they just didn't quite match up right. I'm glad you mentioned it because I wasn't sure if anybody would notice it or...

I'm from Illinois too. I guess this guitar addiction is an Illinois thing eh?

Well, you sort of got me on a technicality. Yes I misused the term "sample", but the fact remains that you're just dumping in more snapshots. I don't see any reason not to refer to the data represented in each amplitude as a snapshot also. It is effectively just that—more snapshots of the...

    Stereo Recording w/Live! problem

I think you're using the wrong y-cord. It may be one made for using 2 sets of headphones in which case both the female ends are stereo to accomdate 2 stereo headphones and the way you're running it will give you mono in one side like that. Instead of jurry-rigging things like that you'd be...

    POD + Headphones

You'll get a flat response across the the entire frequecy spectrum from 20 to 20k no matter whether you record at 16 or 24 bit. 24 bit just takes more sample snap-shots. The question is, is it being redundant to add more info than we already had at 16 bit. The obvious answer is yes. No human...

Whats a GOOD amp for LIVE acoustic guitar / vocals gig?

Yeah George, I agree with all that and I've only played the Calofornia Blonde model myself but I hear The Strawberry Blonde is almost as good. In fairness to Trace though, I musty say they do sound very good also and I have to wonder if they wouldn't sound as good and maybe even better than the...

    POD + Headphones

More Slackmaster BS. Have you ever once taken up the challenge to prove anything you say? Again, lets here those great 24 bit recordings of yours. Or anybody else for that matter. Where are those terrific 24 bit recordings in the MP3 listening section? I haven't heard anything that sounded any...

    Recording Books

If you don't mind reading on-line or making printouts Roger Nichols has virtually every article he's written in the past 13 years available at his home page. You'll get more out of that than any book probably. http://www.rogernichols.com/DAEQ.html He and Craig Anderton among others also field...

    POD + Headphones

Absolute and utter BS. You'll never sound any better at 24 than 16. If 24 bit sounds better then lets hear it. You'd be the first to prove it. I've got tons of recordings done on 16 bit (many on a SB Live) I'll match against anything you or anybody else at 24. If 24's so darn terrific then lets...

    Revalver SE ???

I'm using Revalver full-time now too. Unbelievable sound. I use outboard distortion units though because the gain on Revalver is just too darn noisy. It's a shame because it's distortion is the best I've ever heard outside of a real amp. For POD and J-station guys, I'd encourage them to trying...

Whats a GOOD amp for LIVE acoustic guitar / vocals gig?

I don't think anyone who ever played through an SWR would ever want to part with it. They really are amazing and a little better than Trace Elliot I think. (those tiny Trace speakers just don't cut it like the 12" in the SWR. I'd like to hear a Trace through a better speaker enclosure though...

    Best value soundcard

I used 7 & 8 too. But for some reason the sound of previous tracks always leaked into the new one and it sounded kinda funky like that. Something just wasn't right. Anyhow I couldn't figure out what, if anything, I was doing wrong so I just went back to the SB drivers. I think the last ASP...

    Best value soundcard

Nah, I just had (still have it) the SB Live MP3 card. That crossmixer was a bit of a nightmare in the last upgrade. If you can avoid that then you're doing great. I hear this hack is a great setup for people using Cubas. I've never used that though and I don't use synths or midi so I don't know...

    Audiophile and SB removal

You seem to know quite a bit about this stuff so this is gonna seem real obvious probably but, does your card have an auxillary input you aren't using that you could run the CD audio cable to? Either that or run the spdf output from the CD (if it has one) to a spdf input on the card providing...

    Best value soundcard

Well, we're always going round and round about the 16 bit versus 24 bit recording thing. I personally don't think anyone can tell the difference between them and that an SB Live sounds great at 16/48. But the Hoontech will allow for 24 bit recording if you wanted to try that. I think it also has...

    Best value soundcard

The worst THD is on anything in digital audio is still inaudible. It's a useless statistic for anything other than cassette decks. And your SB Live will sound the exact same as any other card you buy. It's a matter of features with soundcards and compatibility issues.

Delta 44, another pop and click problem

Why is that interesting kiddo and how are the 2 related? And where are your great 24 bit recordings? Either put up or shut up pal. Nobody likes a mouthy sissy.

Delta 44, another pop and click problem

I don't know much about it but Celerons do seem to be troublesome for recording for a lot of people. Are you using CakeWalk? There are some known issues between CW and Delta Cards especially with GT Pro. Have you tried running Doctor Watson to look for conflicts? (I suppose you did but I had to...

    Best value soundcard

If you're only needing something that can lay 2 tracks at a time I'd seriously consider that little Hoontech Audio DSP24 Value. Only $130 and that's hard to beat. I haven't heard anything negative about them at all. I'm not sure if they'll support WDM drivers or not though but I think they will...

when it REALLY comes down to it...(yes, more 16-bit vs 24-bit)

DJ, Glad you liked the Glass Harp. I came across their first album when I was a teenage GI Joe type stationed out in Alaska. Wore out several copies of those GH records. Up until I heard Keaggy I just knew a few chords and simple little folk songs etc, and was more interested in chasing girls...
