    A Political song (sort of).

Well, some of it's living. I spend time in the evenings with my wife and son. I have some stuff in our garage I still need to go through, as well as some painting to do. I have an hour's drive each way to and from work. I have some samples up at my website. The samples that are up there are...

    A Political song (sort of).

Cool! Thanks! I'd love to get back into recording, but I've got a lot of other stuff going on right now. Hopefully, I can record soon, though...

    A Political song (sort of).

I'll definitely do that. Here's another one I've yet to record...again, I generally write country, but this is just what came out... "Not Gonna Be Your Sycophant" You like when people do what you want you like it when they do what you say-ay-ay you like the pucker-ups and the suck-ups it...

    A Political song (sort of).

I can't remember the last time I actually sat down and recorded something...Usually, I write country, but occasionally something like this will come out. Yeah, I say "so far" because I may go back and either add to or revise a few of the lines...

    A Political song (sort of).

This is sort of a political song. It has an angry, driving, metal feel to it. I don't have a title for it, or a "formal" structure for it yet, but here goes... Spinning the lies! Truth in disguise Deceiving the ears, Deceiving the eyes What did I hear? what did you say? Today, tomorrow...

More Lyrics -- "Your Forever Is Shorter Than Mine"

Oh, of course. I did write this as a country song, but I don't quite know what I want to do from an instrumentation standpoint. Your idea of the mandolin/fiddle sounds intriguing. I'll have to think about going into the woman aspect of the song. It may take away from it a bit, but then again...

More Lyrics -- "Your Forever Is Shorter Than Mine"

Your Forever (Is Shorter Than Mine) © 2008 V1: You told me you'd love me forever I thought you meant for all time Then you left, told me good bye Your forever is shorter than mine. Ch: My forever is till the end of time yours is just till you change your mind and I know you simply can't deny...

    mailing campaign?

It's a good idea, though. The main issue I see, is that you'd have to be extremely targeted towards specific people. And you'd have to make the packaging as intriguing as possible, so that people open it. What you could probably do is find out where your fan base is within those neighborhoods...

    mailing campaign?

Gully: I don't necessarily know that I'd do that. It sounds good on paper, but how often do you get things in the mail, look at them for 2 seconds, then throw them away? It's probably the same with sticking fliers on cars. I'm sure you'd get a few fans that way, but for the most part, I think...

    T-minus 11 days...

10 days to go and I'm anxious! I hope that at least if I don't win that the review of my lyrics are good!

    SellaBand -- Anybody used this?

Sounds like an interesting concept, but seems a bit narrow as far as what they let you do with regard to making money and album rights. http://www.sellaband.com/site/how-it-works.html

New NiN Album Released several different ways, without warning?

Yeah, this is great, in my opinion. The music industry ways are almost antiquated, and it wouldn't surprise me if more and more artists took this route. This essentially cuts out the "middle man" (the label itself), so to speak.

Thoughts on building around a line/concept/idea??

Not a bad idea. I want this to be a very, very powerful song, so I may need to try that.

Thoughts on building around a line/concept/idea??

What it means is that I'm using phrasing that is a little out of the norm, and so Google may not turn up anything. I'm not so sure a dictionary would help either, but I'll check and see what turns up in thesaurus.

Thoughts on building around a line/concept/idea??

Indubitably! I would concur! Except the caveat that the phrasing of said lyrics is quite different from the norm.

Thoughts on building around a line/concept/idea??

I have an idea for a song that I think would make a great love/wedding song, as a duet. I have the basic concept, and there's a phrase I definitely want to use, but with minor modifications based on who is singing (it would be a male & female duet). I'm a bit stuck on how to actually build...

And here is the other song.....

The only thing I can think of is to change "whenever" to "every time" in the first verse.
