Crazy idea for guitars with 2 pickups

I believe a lot of guitars a;;ready do this ... My New ESP has a seperate Volume knob for each Pickup and a selector switch to switch between pickups or to have both pickups on at once and I believe the tone knob is at the end of the chain before the output jack ...... On another side note , I...

    M Audio Dx4 issues

Well the problem could be any number of things , All of which would need some equipment and some electronics knowlege to diagnose , at least a Digital Multi Meter ..... The Speaker excursion points to there being DC at the speaker output , the cause of which could be a Fried Chip , a short or...

The Voltage drop for all Standard silicone diodes are going to be the same at o.7v , if you can source a germanium rectifier diode it sould only have 0.3v voltage drop...... Good luck

    choosing capacitors...

I recomended 63v caps because I don"t know were in the curcuit each cap will be used , if they are there for supply Bypass then you would need 63v caps but if they are in the audio path or the Drain of a Fet a low voltage cap would be fine ..... Cheers

    choosing capacitors...

Any Voltage rateing of 63v or higher will be fine , 50v caps would be to close to the 48v Phantom voltage and could Fail ..... Cheers

    choosing capacitors...

The .22uF cap is the red one in the pics , but like I said any Poly cap will work fine and be better than what was in there which was probably a ceramic .... the caps are pretty small so no matter which one you get it will probably fit unless you get like a 200v or 300v part which would be a bit...

    a good book?

I the PAiA Kits a fairly good , I have built a couple and am very happy with them and most all of them are powered by a 12v ac wallmart so there is not much chance of shocking yerself to death and the instruction manual is so detailed and step by step that even a monkey can follow it .... it...

    mosfet?

A Mosfet like a Jfet will Tube like characteristics when over driven and unlike a Regular BJT Transistor has a very high input impedance which makes them more suitable for Guitar use .... Most poeple think of mosfets being in the output stage of power amps and therefore high power devices but in...

Any value to replacing feedback loop resistors?

Another reason you don"t want Wirewound Inductive resistors is they have a different resistance as different frequencies and could conceivably be a dead short at audio frequencies which doesn"t bode well for setting Gain in an audio amp ....

    better guitar grounding?

Check to make sure there is a solid ground connection on the back of the pots and that is is solid all the way back to the Ground connection to the bridge , also try shielding the cavity were the pots and pickups are and grounding that also ...... Cheers

    Headphone opamp recommendation

The LM386 is a pretty crappy sounding chip and unfortunately there are no direct drop in replacements .... I would suggest you maybe buy or build a Headphone amp and the Line output from your Mixer to plug into the headphone amp and monitor that way ..... Cheers

    Rehabbing an old amp

If hum is your problem with this old tube amp I think there are 2 possible causes , Old electrolytic caps become leakey over time and will cause a hum so replaceing all the electrolytic caps is a good start , even replaceing them with a bit larger Values would be a good ... second issue is that...

    Question about speakers?

So these speakers don"t have an amp in them or with them?? If the answer is that they don"t have an amp built into them or some other amp then you should know that "ALL" speakers need an amplifier of some sort , Interfaces don"t have them ...... You will need a set of speakers with amps built...

    Micing cabs vs. Amp Simulators

Ive tried quite a few Amp and cab sims and for the most part they just didn"t cut it , they just had a thin , sterile sound , very digital ..... I recently got a new amp that has a DI out that has some analogue Speaker/Cab sims in line with it , it"s a feature mainly used for recording purposes...

    Power supply separate from effect

Yes, I would put the Transformer in a seperate box and the rectifier and caps inside the Chasssis with the Tube curcuits ... with a torroidal Xformer you are going to have a lot less magnetic field and Transformer hum than and stardard Xformer , also the Magnetic field eminates from the top and...
