DAW is Cubase. As far as plugins, nothing really special, some compression, a little delay and lots of EQ. I'm no expert but would be happy to answer any questions. There's a wealth of knowledge right here in this forum just read all of Blue Bear's posts.

I agree. I spent a couple of hours working on the drums, bass and gits. At that point, I was really diggin' the heavy guitar riff. When it came time to pull up the keys, I just couldn't get them to work. They just seemed to take away from the focus on the fiddles. My first thoughts were not to...

Dude, this is supposed to be fun and a learning experience. Nobody's questioning your mix or score.

I agree also, now convert to an MP3 and your mix sounds like ASS, but........I just can't help myself. Maybe there's a 12 step program for limiter abuse. Anyway, if the judges compensate for volume, which I believe they all did, the advantage should go to the more dynamic mix.

To be honest with you, I listened to my mix yesterday and really had trouble making it through. I mixed and upped it all in one session, something I'll never do again.

A big thanks to the judges! I can't imagine listening to the same song some 30 times in a row. I'm looking forward to the next contest. Just out of curiosity, what did everyone find the most difficult part of the mix? I know I struggled with many parts and never really could decide what to do...
