I'm really liking this.
I'd drop the "ooh" back too. I'd say that you'd find a good level by imagining that they're under the main vocal line and mixing accordingly. With that being said, however, I'd leave the last round of "ooh"s the same volume. Not sure why, but I think it could work. Maybe...
Sounding good joeym :D
As one of the previous posters noted, I noticed some sibilance on the vocals in the intro/verse. The singing is awesome though, and I'm loving the harmonies.
The hi-hat floats above the mix a tad too much in my opinion. I'd drop it down a bit if that's at all possible...
I used to have a UB1202, which I believe is the model up from the 802.
Neither of them have a USB output (unless you have an updated model or something, but I couldn't find anything online about an 802 with USB), and there's no individual channel outputs.
That means your only option, as it...
Thanks G :)
formant,
I don't really mind the Phonic, but I'm wanting to get some experience on a different interface. More inputs would be nice too, and it would just give me an opportunity to expand into different brands and see what's on offer. I guess that's not really going to provide any...
Hey guys,
I'm having a bit of a dilemma. I am planning to upgrade my recording setup, seeing as I have a bit of cash coming in soon. Now I know that knowledge and experience are the best steps towards improving the sounds I'm getting, so I've already invested in a selection of reading materials...
The reason you got "b'shit" back is because you asked for advice, you were given advice (ie. don't do what you're planning on doing), and you were stubborn about it and insisted on it.
Honestly, if you don't know how to use the gear, you'll just get your hopes up over nothing and come out of...
Acrylic kits, to me, are something that would be more suited to a live situation. Just for the lighting effects/gimmick value of them.
I can't say I've recorded an acrylic kit before, but I have played using acrylic snares and quite frankly, they sound like s**t.
There's no way anyone in here will be able to give you any usable advice if you don't know the gear you'll be using. I couldn't even tell you which program to open (assuming you're using a DAW) with the information you've given.
As a previous poster said, find a hobbyist in the area who would...
Doesn't sound too bad.
To me it sounds like you need to take some of those pillows and blankets out of the kick drum and tune the snare a bit (as you said) before worrying about using different microphones.
All your levels sound right, so you've done a good mix in that regard. I think the...
A lot of older players won't play duplicated (burned) CD's. If you want CD's to play universally on all players, you'll have to get them replicated (stamped) by a professional company.
Ask your friends for some information regarding their players. If they're old stereos, that's probably why. If...
Yes, it will do the job.
The headphone amplifier has an "input" connection on it. Plug a stereo lead into that, then plug that into your mixer's "Headphones" input.
After that, all you have to do is plug the headphones into the amp and you're good to go.
1x Audio Technica AT4040
1x Audix D6
1x Beyerdynamics M201
2x Shure SM57
1x Shure SM58
3x Audix F10
1x Audix F12
2x Audix F15
1x Behringer B2 Pro (Piece of garbage...)
1x Rode NT1-A
3x Samson R1 Mics (I use these for communications in the control room. They only cost about $20 each, haha)
So...
I was tossing up between an SM57 and an Audix i5 to compliment the Audix D6 I ordered the other day. Despite having experience with the 57, I went with neither and splurged by ordering a Beyerdynamics M201 :)
I'm hoping they arrive before I hit the studio in the early new year.
Ah ok, lol. I just hadn't seen you mention the model of Audix mic in your previous posts, so I thought you might have accidentally typed "Audix" in reference to the D112. It's all good.
Hey Bob,
I'd disagree that mixing is 70% reverb and echo. This is absolutely false. In fact, some mixes use no reverb or echo at all.
Fire up Google and get reading on these things. They are but some of the things that you'll be needing to know about to start getting some good mixes:
EQ...
